Texas @ OKState 1/20/24

I sometimes think conference road wins should count 1.5 in the W column lol

Even when this one tightened up in the 3rd I still felt Texas had the advantage in this one

I did like their color commentator guy too. And the man has brisket on the mind all the time lol

I saw that Latrecia Trammel (Wings HC) was doing their radio color analysis and I’m sure that’s a hoot to listen to. She has her own way with words

Good lord the Okie St. color commentator guy really loves our team. He might not make it out of the building with all the praise he gave us this afternoon. Classy guy.

Probably happy they won't play us in conference again ... but, yes, nice of him to be polite.

:yippee:

I just remember losing in Stillwater last year when they knocked down 8 three’s (40%)
Eeek. For a moment there, I thought we were going to have a repeat of this. Thankfully, we stayed strong.

Jones was the standout for me, but Moore, Booker and Gonzales were right there with her. Booker had 6 turnovers but she also had 5 steals to go with her 19 points.

Oddly, we got zero points from the bench but Vic didn’t go very deep. Same for OSU who got 2 points from their bench. I didn’t realize how often Gusters would need to sit.

I was watching the game and thinking, "Gusters....Gusters....why have I heard that name before?"

Oh Yeah.
20-21: Baylor. I remember she was determined to play for Kimmy and wouldn't seriously consider anyone other team like Texas
21-22: LSU. Followed her there, to the relief of Texas fans
22-23: Transferred out of LSU to OSU right before fall practice was to start. Had to sit a year
23-24: Whenever she was in, she was effective. But shocked how out of shape she was in and couldn't handle the minutes. I guess she didn't stay in shape while off for a year? Hurting her team with the inability to stay in.

Did anyone else hear Vic call the referee a dumbass at the end of the game? He was pissed because Amo got knocked down (and was slow to get up) on that last play of the game, and there was no call.

I did not.

As I mentioned the other night, not a fan of one of our starters who is coming back from injury being on the floor late in the game which is comfortably in hand.

She actually had come to several of our games; grandfather played football at Texas, I recall. Whatever happened with her and Texas verbal commitment Deja Kelly while at Duncanville and her not getting immediate eligibility when she transferred to Irving Nimitz and their parents on social media seemed to put an end to her wanting to (play with Kelly) and come to Texas; of course, we ended up with neither.

Heard that on the post-game radio show.

Players coming off the bench included Muhammad, Faye, and Ndjakalenga. Second time this season for Muhammad and Faye to go scoreless; we need them to produce offensively even though they do a lot of other things to contribute on the court; however, Faye's stat line was 5 minutes, 0 rebounds, 0 points, 1 turnover, and 3 fouls; and, she had such a great game on Tuesday against KU after not having played at KSU; need her to find her consistency as an upperclassmen.

For what’s it’s worth, I was taking a childish and unnecessary dig at a certain poster who tends to show up only to rain on everyone's parade.

Holiday cheer, Horns should be winning games they are supposed to be winning. That loss to BU was inexcusable as TEXAS was the higher ranked team at that time. Finally, I know you are but what am I? <3

UTSAGrad….the question you ask is a good one. The easy answer is no…..the movements you describe are fluid and part of basketball movement/. What was called today is the shuffling of feet….or moving your pivot foot before other basketball moves. For example when Muhammad goes left with the ball, she shuffles her feet…..moves pivot ….before starting the dribble almost every time. She did it a couple of times last game and it wasn’t called. The refs correctly called her at least twice for it today. Traveling goes uncalled in the post A LOT, but the bigs can get away with it sometimes. But not very often out on the floor where everyone can see it. The Eurostep looks funny and used to be called a travel decades ago. I was refereeing when it first was introduced and can admit to incorrectly calling it traveling a few times. Until our referee chapter gave us training on it. The best player of using her feet with similar moves is Moore. Watch her feet inside. In the last few games her inside moves have been smooth, effective and almost unstoppable. I can’t remember seeing another player with better footwork. There are lots of other ways to travel but that’s all I got on a Saturday night.

Just finished watching. Watched for it and though I couldn’t hear it, could easily read his lips.

Easily the most ridiculous post I have ever read. Almost like you have no idea what happened 72 hours before that game. :rolleyes1: And that level of disrespect for Rori… wow.

Don't tell me not to live, just sit and putter
Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter
Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade

Just now off work and watched first half and Jak played good minutes she stayed on defensive assignment, she took a good shot when it was her turn but it rimmed out, and played hard. I still hope she get more minutes. If you go back watch the game from a coaches view she played good minutes didn’t hurt us tried to help us. Sometimes we equate good or bad to points and that’s ok but I made a note to watch her and if Vic watches it or position coach does they should see good minutes from her.

Interestingly enough, for a team that drives me crazy at the foul line, we won this one at the foul line.

Booker 5/5
Jones 8/11
Moore 3/4

Texas 17/21 81%
OSU 9/15 60%

A thriving program is bigger than just 1 person. i’m fully aware what happened a few days before that game. Until we consistently win games that were supposed to win, with your thinking you’ll still be clinging to the Texas only 1986 championship. at least i don’t have a lackadaisical attitude about winning.

When you drive through Moore, OK there's a big sign saying "Home of Toby Keith". I keep forgetting AMo is from OK. Nice her family and friends got to see her play up close.

You know…..Moore has a BIG personality. Her body language/facial expressions remind me a lot of O’Neal. As she has gotten healthier and her play improves, her personality just makes me smile. As wide as Texas. Obviously her family and Oklahoma friends support her. It sure would be nice if she could win a couple NATTIES like O’Neal.

You do you, Boo. :tap:

Yikes, what an attitude. I'll bet you're fun at parties.

He was not the typical homer I am used to on these conference road ESPN+ games. He even said "we want to wish Texas well next season in the SEC" and "we're not sure if they'll ever play in this arena, but we'll miss playing against them" or something like that.

Ya'll might remember ... Moore was wiped out by a tornado in 2013. Kevin Durant, who was then playing for OkCity, donated $1 million for recovery efforts.

Just re-watched the game. Vic would know better than me, but for my money, if Stailee Heard is looking for a new home in the SEC, come on down.

Just a Freshman, so 3 years to go. Was her HS conference defensive POY, as well as POY (although it was a small pond). Shooting 53% from the field and 70.8% from the line. Perhaps there is a better freshman guard in the B12 (other than Madi), but I don't know who'd that be, although Kailey Woolston (BYU) and S'Mya Nichols (KU) have better stats.
