Oklahoma State comes in 11-6 on the season and 4-2 in conference with wins against BYU, Tech, Central Florida, TCU and losses to Iowa State and Kansas.

While Texas cracks the top 25 nationally in many stat categories and top 10 in several (#2 in scoring margin and #4 in field goal percentage), OSU only musters a #50 in field goal percentage.

At 6’5” Hannah Gusters is big under the basket averaging 14 points and 4 rebounds.

OSU has a Freshman standout of their own with Stailee Heard averaging 14 pts, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.

OSU averages 73 ppg vs Texas 81
OSU averages 35 rebounds vs Texas 41
OSU gives up 15 turnovers vs Texas 14
OSU FG% 45 vs Texas 51%

OSU still has Garzon who shot 41% from 3 last season but she’s shooting 31% this season. I’m sure she’s capable of going off

OSU has shot 400 threes on 32% (129)
Texas has shot 230 threes on 39% (89)

But when you live by the three, you die by the three because that means 271 missed threes (16 pg) for OSU who average 35 rebounds vs 141 missed threes (7 pg) by Texas who average 42 rebounds and out rebound their opponents by 13.

Just looking at the stats Texas wins this by 13 with most of those coming in the paint. But paper is very different than court and this is a road game. Another blowout would be a nice surprise.

When Gusters goes up against a comparable big, she chokes. Jones and Faye need to shut her down. Heard will probably get her points but maybe Holle can give her some trouble. My gut tells me Booker and Gonzales have good games and Moore and Muhammad seal the deal.

I just remember losing in Stillwater last year when they knocked down 8 three’s (40%)
Yep. That 4 point loss sucked big time. And we shot 50% in that game last year vs our 44% average. But we let them shoot 51% which was way above their average. And six of those 8 threes came from Naomi, Lexy and Lior who are all gone.

If we bring our defense, we are hard to beat. Fingers crossed we take this one on the road this year.

Facts are fun. Opinions are even more fun. I enjoy equal doses of both.
Fact - we should win.
Opinion - we will win (unless you live in the northwest).

:bevo:

I agree with the facts and the opinion completely completely.

That said, the realist that I am is aware that road games in conference are rarely a true gimme especially when those home teams are foaming at the mouth to get that one last conference victory over the evil empire to satiate their burning hate. That just makes a Texas win that much sweeter! Bwahahaha!

For what’s it’s worth, I was taking a childish and unnecessary dig at a certain poster who tends to show up only to rain on everyone's parade. I really should get over it… should being the key word.

I'm liking this color guy - Mike someone- he is calling the plays for both teams ... and they are usually doing what he anticipates. Nice to have a knowledgeable broadcaster at an away game.

Why does Amina have the traveling bug? Called at least twice the last game, and two times this game, also. She's not even being pressured.

Pondering: If a player steps forward and begins to dribble, there is a nanosecond when the ball is in the air, not yet touching the floor. Is this what is being called as traveling? So,the player should put the ball on the floor before stepping forward? Seems to overlook the fluidity of the dribble movement ...is this what is being called on Amina?

Good lord the Okie St. color commentator guy really loves our team. He might not make it out of the building with all the praise he gave us this afternoon. Classy guy.

Smartly played game by both teams. We have great athletes, which is what will see us through these close ones, IHMO.
