TEXAS MUSIC HALL OF FAME

I wasn't a teenager yet, but was so pissed I think the next concert I saw was Elvis at HLS&R, although I became a big Duane Eddy fan because of Barton & Naomi Hazlewood. Never got to see him or Nancy Sinatra live when they were all together.

I didn't know who any of them were except Horton and Marty Robbins. When my dad heard we sat through Tillman, he said there wasn't enough money in all Jefferson County to get him to do that. He then said next time I got in trouble, making me listen to him would be worse than any whipping I got.

Another group we didn't appreciate were from north Jefferson County. In the City Park in Groves was a small white building that could be rented for parties. Frequently someone would have a dance there with Jivin Gene & the Jokers or Jerry LaCroix, but usually some no names from Beaumont. Two albino brothers named Winter playing at "The Old Town Hall".

That pocket of the state (Beaumont-Port Arthur-Orange / Golden Triangle) has a disproportionately high number of good musicians per capita.

Here's another real good one from that area (not Mt. Rushmore good, but good), who came from a musical family:

The boys from Vidor have done well. You never know if Mark will be sober enough to sing. I prefer Tracy Bird, but most everyone prefers Clay Walker.

All of them pale compared to Possum.

Imagine you come home from a long business trip and your house is empty because your wife moved across the road and in with your neighbor. Couple that with the fact that Vidor was dry, and I think you could add realism to a sad song.

I didn't talk to him for years until he showed up at the funeral home and asked if he could attend my grandfather's funeral. I told him our family would be "honored".

Chop,

The Stones doing Waylon may be the best thing you've ever posted
Here he is (probably well into his 40s at this point):

Bob Wills himself on the 1st fiddle, and that steel guitarist, wow!
I think about 1/2 his band members were typically Texans with many of the others from the Tulsa, Oklahoma area.

I saw his steel guitarist on stage with a local country & western band from Houston about 20 years ago.

Sabre
Amazing clips.
In first aside from incredible performances I had never see a white base
In second? How cool and weird is it that the sheriff is shaving while his posse sings and plays even with fire arms strapped on?
Makes sense to me
Two awesome clips
Thank you:clap:
