Texas/Memphis

Memphis looked really long and athletic, but then again, that's probably the best half of basketball they've played all year. If they play like that, they will beat anybody, but hopefully they'll regress back to their mean. I'm a little afraid of them right now, but that doesn't mean I don't think we have a shot. It should be a good game.
 
This is one match up i have on my bracket that I was really hoping would take place. Personally, I love this match up and I think if we take care Memphis, you really have to like our odds against the UCLA/Xavier winner.
 
NO question Memphis is talented. But don't be fooled by their 50 - 20 first half. They came out swinging but by midway though the half,Mich St. was frusturated and it led them to some stupid turnovers and easy buckets. We have more poise than Mich St. showed last night in the first half.

I like going to the zone and making them hit from outside. They're a solid team, but we can definitely win. We are going to NEED the crowd though. Lounder than last game.
 
Memphis played the best half of ball against a good team that I have seen in a very long time. They play like that we are some deep ****.

If they play like I have seen them most of the year, we can hang but the Horns have to have the A game. You dont get into the FF with anything less.
 
Why do people keep pointing out the troubles Memphis has at the line?
Have you not looked at our FT%?

This will be a tight game, with turnovers being the key.
 
This game probably will come down to a team losing it rather than winning the game.

If this game goes down to the wire, which it should, then it is going to be very stressful to see which team bricks it worse at the free throw line to lose.

LOL the only reason they made a huge run was that Rose was out of the game. IF you want to slow us down better send the goon squad. For those of you that say we don't have a good defense, well, you are right, we have an AWESOME defense, #6 in the country. I watched you guys play Stanford and actually hoped we would meet you guys instead of them until I saw the beatdown you put on them. You guys have a great team and tomorrow should be an exciting game IF we don't repeat last night's first half performance. For those of you who say that was our best performance of the season and we can't duplicate it, you might be in for a surprise. While it was our finest performance so far there have been plenty of others real close to it this season. Don't believe it? Go watch replays of the georgetown game and the second UAB game. I know I know, C-USA teams don't compare. BULL, we probably had a tougher time against our conference opponents than any of our OOC games. For those of you that say we can't compete you might want to go look up where we stand in comparison to the rest of the teams left in the tourney, the stats might surprise you. Either way, good luck tomorrow and may the best team win!
 
Tigerfan no one here is saying you can't compete with us and we will win easily. If anything you guys are the favorite to win. But, as a Texas fan who has watched this team all season, not only have we proven we can beat multiple elite teams, we are hot and playing well right now at the right time, we are playing in our home state with the majority of fans tomorrow.

IMO there is more pressure on your squad and coach to win than ours. We have been to a final 4 recently. This is your team and coaches 3rd straight Elite 8 year, so you don't think Memphis players, coaches, and fans are feeling alot of pressure to win right now. I hope both teams bring their A game and the best team wins. I think it will be close down the stretch and the team that plays the best in the last 4 minutes( ie. turnovers, clutch shots, free throws) will win. Best of luck can't wait for tomorrow. Hookem'

Had no idea we stunk so bad. Thanks for sending that perceptive statistical link. I guess I won't drive to Houston tomorrow morning.
 
I find it interesting Tigerblue4ever would come here looking to try to stir up some angst against his team. Are you sure you aren't coach calipari? All you lacked in your post was the reference to "Us against the world" and you would be all set. Not a single person has posted how Memphis is gonna just roll over and let us have it. I personally believe we win in a super close one by 2 at the line with Abrams or Augustin shooting.

However we all know how this will end for you Tiger. If we win you will slink off and never acknowledge it and if we lose you will be on here boasting for 2 weeks straight.
