On to the next opponent, on the road at #11 Kentucky, a team with notable wins over Louisville, Illinois, Vanderbilt, Alabama, and Oklahoma. Here's hoping we can maintain our intensity without any let down. It's going to be another tough one.

They will be in action tonight at Ole Miss on ESPN 2 at 6:00 p.m. CST.

Amoore is outstanding point guard. If Harmon can hold her to around 20 and limit the assists, Horns will make it tough on KY. Kentucky is a VERY good, well coached team. There record says so. And they pass the eyeball test.

So Charlie Creme is touting three of Kentucky's remaining games as must-see games. Doesn't include this game on the list, nor Texas game against LSU as must-see. What's up with that?

I think two things were at play:
1. He wrote this before we beat SC
2. He was only picking one game per day

Thursday the bigger matchup is indeed #1 against #7 with UCLA vs USC

Sunday the bigger matchup would have been #2 vs #5 but again I think he wrote this before we beat SC.

That said, Creme still blows.

If you want to get a feel for Kentucky, they play tonight at 6:00 central against Ole Miss on ESPN2.

Maybe their having one less day of rest will even out the fact that we travel there. Fingers crossed anyway…

KY is second in the country in blocks at 6.7 per game. The games I’ve watched, KY looks tall and athletic. Jones and Oldacre may have to work harder.

Strack the center is 6’-5” and Key the forward is 6’-4”. They are the leaders in blocks. Key was effective against Texas when she played at TN. I would think Schaefer would press to minimize the size. However, Amoore is so good, that might be counterproductive. But I bet he presses full court.

The Key that plays for Kentucky is a transfer in from North Carolina. She is the younger sister of the Key that played for Tennessee.

The ESPN Matchup Predictor has been pretty accurate with our games so far and it gives us an 87% chance of winning.

I’m calling it now. Texas by 18. :hookem:

Good for Ole Miss but I’d rather Kentucky won that game (in overtime lol).
Double overtime for good measure. But honestly, I didn’t see anything we couldn’t handle. KY struggles against a good defensive effort and I gotta believe that is what Vic plans to give them

KY also has a 6'7 freshman from Portugal, and 6'1 player who is Czech. I wonder if UT is recruiting any foreign players who play center.

I think it’s because the two main KY shot blockers are tall but very lanky so it must be easier to displace them in the paint

Amoore will be a problem and hopefully Texas manages their blocking prowess (I think they’re averaging 7 blks per game)

In my basketball nightmares, my trepidation is two-fold: Kentucky will be raring to go after loss to unranked team: Texas will still be basking in afterglow and be unfocused. In reality, I think Texas takes it to the bank. I really feel that the SC victory will instill a new attitude in the Longhorns going forward.

Mississippi was playing at home and KY led most of game until 4th quarter. Mississippi is really good and Texas only won by 3 points. KY will play better at their house. I’m not quite as optimistic as some. I think it’ll be a close game till the end. Amoore drives KY. Mississippi kept her under control. Harmon and perhaps Lee will need to do the same. I’m projecting a 5 point Horns win.

Thanks for the data!

I think the numbers are a bit skewed because our SOS is #3 and theirs is #39 so we've played much tougher teams at this point.
At least that's what I'm using to try to calm my anxiety today.

As long as the refs let us play Vic's defense and don't call touch fouls I like our chances.

At Moody, before the game starts and during warmups, the arena displays these general stats. Looking at SC's, I said "Wow, we're really the same team". Except we have two bigs and they didn't, really.
