Agree on Larry and Weaver. Yeah, Pope looks behind those two.Weaver finally started playing his game these last couple possessions. To me, it seems that Pope is the one who needs some refinement compared to Larry and Weaver.
Based on what I saw the last couple seasons from Mark, he's going to make everyone else look slow. That'll help stretch the opponents later in the year.
Kent has a hideous shot and shouldn't be jacking it up. Save those for Kaluma.
Our down low D is just bad.
This smallish lineup looks pretty good. It may be tough to go against some of the teams with 2 big strong bangers down low. Winning the rebounding battle (or not losing it by much) may be a key. We've got to hit more of those threes.Larry
Weaver
Mark
Johnson
Shedrick
I didn't see a lot of evidence of that. They looked like a hot mess that can't play consistent defense. Maybe that will improve throughout the season.Through all the fog, one thing remains clear: this is a well-coached team.
Most of those threes were lightly contested, if contested at all.The beginning of the game ohio state shot really well and Texas couldn't hit the side of a barn. I think ohio state had 10 3pts for their first 38 points.
Think of it as an exhibition game.
A certain victory. Another warm up game. Basically a scrimmage. Will be interesting to see if we hit 3s. Will Larry and Weaver keep driving like stars? Can Pope get in sync with the rest of the backcourt? Last game (scrimmage/warm up), Shedrick started slow and came on in the 2nd half. But it wasn't, we are 0-1. But not to worry, we have mighty Houston Christian coming to the Mood tonight.
Freshman guard Tre Johnson scores 28 points to lead No. 19 Texas past Houston Christian 90-59
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Freshman guard Tre Johnson scored 28 points and No. 19 Texas defeated Houston Christian 90-59 on Friday night.www.indexjournal.com
28 points for Tre J.
90-59 final.
Sounds like one team played an exhibition game and the other team didn’t.This was really just a warm-up to see what sort of stuff we've got, to make adjustments going forward, and go from there. Think of it as an exhibition game.
