On Ewers injury Herbstreit missed a chance to be insightful. He seemed to see a linebacker in the air unable to avoid contact. I saw a linebacker lifting a quarterback, immobilizing the off arm and accomplishing an intention to injure his shoulder.

Thanks to the success of soccer in this country there are good legs all over that campus. There is no reason for Texas to not have a good kicker. I know of a kid who just missed on a soccer scholarship and a football program immediately picked him up.

(1) I really like the defensive effort. One long run against them, otherwise very solid.

It was 2nd and short. We had timeouts, so we'd have only needed to save 7-10 more seconds earlier in the drive to run two more plays.

FG was the right call. If we fail going for TD not only are we still tied but big MO goes directly to Bama. Missing FG was not good but it not nearly as bad as failing on a TD try. Bad execution was the problem.

Defense came ready

For real. Five drives for Bama: FG-TD-punt-punt-punt. Only 2 points/drive is a major win. Their drives gained only 16 combined yards in the 2nd quarter. We've covered pretty well, pressured the QB, and outside of that one long run have contained Gibbs and McClellan effectively. We also just look incredibly poised - not intimidated by the moment or the opposition.

Question for the Old-Timers: does crowd remind you of the crowd at the 1990 game against the Houston Cougars? The Coogs had humiliated us for a few years running. Crowd was super rowdy and the Horns were fired up and gave UH a good whoopin'

The missed PI call in the endzone and shanked field goal cost us 7 points. It should be 17-10 horns getting the ball to start the second half. The defense is playing really well. Time for some adjustments.
