Texas at TCU Sunday

Getting out coached sucks. Looking for weekly improvement from Aston in the X's and O's game, but its just not there. Well coached teams with subpar talent beat TCU handedly. No reason for the loss, just flat out no reason. This is why I advocated for Walz. But we have who we have, and I will still be a loyal supporter of the program. I'm just not excited about waiting another 2 years for the coaching to catch up with the talent

I'm didn't see the end, but apparently we lost from what is being said. It's hard to not wonder what's up with Aston in several ways, but especially taking out Imani, the unequivocal core of our attack, for so long at the end.

Can't wait to hear the post game quotes.... if there is one. Good teams BEAT the teams they are supposed to beat.

Now Baylor will crush Texas in Austin. Count on it.

Even worse is the level of defensiveness and sensitivity to criticism on the team's Facebook page. If you're willing to take the praise, be willing to hear frustration with losses like this one, which shouldn't have been lost.

This loss stamps and confirms the regression of what was once a promising start to this season. Hard to recover, your psyche and confidence is impacted. Now you're playing for pride if that resonates with this program. What this coaching staff has done merits 4am bootcamp for a week for the COACHES as well.

That was hard to watch. They punched our ticket from early on and we never made the adjustment.

There are two many baffling things to focus on. From coaching to effort to ball handling. I really don't understand it. I really thought this year (after the great start) Texas would beat all the teams it's supposed to beat and have a shot at beating everyone else. Wrong. I'll be out of town when Baylor comes to Austin Sunday but sadly, at this point, it looks like it will be a blood bath. We need someone on this staff who can coach guards. Ours are turnover machines who can't hit threes against average competition. Depressing. And the TCU coach practically gave us the game with her technical but we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

I am confused on what Aston was thinking.
Imani and Brooke on the Bench.
We look like a scared team now.
And the guards want really shoot or penetrate.
What happen. This is not the same team.
And on the cool.
The Coaching need's to improve too.
Especially the Offense end of the Floor.
TCU guard's are not Ranked.
And took our Guard's to town.

I may be disappointed by this loss but I am thoroughly enjoying the meltdown of one particular poster. That is hilarious. I guess they're off their meds again.

yes this team is hard to watch right now because they were playing at such a high level - losing atkins and then taylor were huge - then throw in nneka and we have the perfect storm for very rough times ahead - I still think it is more mental than physical and at times that is tougher to bounce back from
Coaching is now coming into question and it should - but it is very hard to pick up the pieces when you lose major pieces as the season is progressing -there is no time to recover the games keep coming and you have to play

I hope they can get it going just to end on a better note - but losing to teams they should beat only adds to the lack of confidence issue
So is it coaching?( the subbing is) Is it confidence? Is it youth? Is it the players not paying attention to detail?

Who knows - I'm thinking it's a combo of all and it's not going to be corrected anytime soon

one positive is Imani is starting to hit her groove

there is such a fine line between losing and winning......

2,810 came to see OU. Now what will the next home game be? Who wants to watch a team that shows up one game and then has their tail between their legs the next against a non ranked opponent? Someone needs to talk a long hard look at what is happening right now to this program this season. Why is it that Sherri for example seems to get the most from less?

A total mind boggling situation where our arrogance will be our downfall.

Imani had a really good game. She should have. Every play was to throw the ball to the posts. EVERY play. Guards aren't going to score if there is no play to set it up. Kelsi touched the ball so many times she should have had at least 20 also. How is it that our posts, tallest in the league, have as many rebounds as most of our guards? Seems to me a 6'5" and 6'4" should have a lot more than 7-8 RPG. 2 out of 6 3's were taken from our guards, TCU's guards had 9 of 22 3's made. The difference was our 3's were taken with 3 seconds or less on the shot clock. Their's were set up by plays. You CANNOT make a game with JUST and outside or JUST and inside. One will free up the other. The guards were trying to get the ball in as much as possible, but when they see their post surrounded by 2 or 3 defenders I'm sure their thinking......"hmmmmmm if they don't catch the ball it's a turnover on me" Even if it hits both of their hands!! We are shooting ourselves in the feet! Beginning to think this is more of a coaching issue. It's a given......the team played like crap. Playing that bad and only losing by 5 is gut wrenching. Looks like coach has given up on this season to prepare for next. No wonder the girls look defeated before the game even started.

Did we ever change Defense against TCU.
I don't think so.You got mix it up some.
And the players, that are scoring. And not in foul trouble.
At the end of the game, you got to have them in the game.
We really are giving game's away.
We are not getting the Best out of our Player's.
We don't utilize, what each player bring's to the table at all.

For me, the biggest problem was the turnovers. It was kind of shocking how poorly we handled their pressure defense, especially in the first half. Tennessee and A&M are known for pressure defense. I don't remember theirs killing us like TCU did today. I was sorry Brianna barely got in the game. Might as well have given her a chance, too. She's about the quickest we have.

Our guards didn't look so befuddled early in the year. As I recall, they were really good against Stanford. We'll have a couple more to throw into the mix next year, Higgs and Hosey. We can use some more poise and ball handling skills in the backcourt, and, please, some players who are what they used to call pure shooters.
