Texas at Nebraska

I can't watch the game, so I was hoping someone who is could post some updates/observations. I've got score updates from ESPN but no idea what's going. Looks like a low-scoring game ... as many here predicted.

I love #20, but when he's in the team goes backwards. Right now Barnes has had in an insane lineup.
Where is Gary Johnson?

Poor passing. Careless fouls. Not getting in place for best shots.

Get the freaking starting lineup on the floor.
Brown for Balbay at times.
Hill for Johnson at times.
That's it until you have double digit leads.

From the running box score, doesn't look like the 'Horns are hitting their shots tonight. They're currently 9 of 25 (36 percent) from the field.

Looks like J'Covan is having a tremendous first half. This is why we need him. When he's on his game, he adds so much to this team. Unfortunately, he's not always on.

Was 25-22 with about 2 min to go. Then Hamilton hit a 3, Brown hit a 3, and Brown hit a long 2 point jumper to put Texas up 33-24.

Joseph misses front end of a 1 and 1. Neb hits their 2 FTs to make it a 33-26 game at the half.

Balbay came in with about 46 left and interesting the announcers mentioned he has only played 6 min this game b/c of the sagging Nebraska defense which has made Barnes pull him in favor of another scorer on the court.

I only caught the last 3 or 4 minutes of the 1st half.

Score is 33-26 at the half. Texas seems to be shooting better, having upped its field goal percentage to 41.4 (12 of 29).

'Huskers outrebounded Texas, 15-14, through the first 20 minutes, which is surprising. Anybody watching the game have an idea why we're getting beat on the glass?

Nebraska is forcing Texas to take longer outside shots than normal. This favors Brown to play more than Balbay. Interesting matchup.

Elsewhere in the NCAA, St. John's scores a bucket with 1.2 seconds remaining to edge Pitt, 60-59. The Panthers had gone ahead on a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left.

St. John's is an enigma. The Red Storm lost to Syracuse, Cincinnati and St. Bonaventure at home, but they've also beaten Georgetown, Notre Dame, Duke, UConn and now Pittsburgh at MSG.

We've played poorly in the second halves of virtually all our games since Kansas. The reasoning for that was a lack of focus resulting from the early double-digit leads.

Since this game has been close from the start, it'll be interesting to see if our 'Horns can break form and play well over the final 20 minutes.

Seems like Nebraska's big men are getting away with assault and Matt Hill is getting called for putting his hands on someone.

Is it me or are the announcers from Lincoln?

Nebraska goes ahead, 42-40, and that is the first time we've trailed since the first half of the game at OSU--a span equivalent to seven full games.

Thompson has 5 points and on the bench with 3 fouls, he is not a factor except 3 out of 6 from free throw line

Texas cannot play with Nebraska inside. They're bigger, stronger, and completely killing us inside. Why can't Barnes be flexible enough to use a zone? A sagging zone would force them to change their game. I don't know if they've taken more than three shots outside of 10 feet. Almost all are flat out lay-ups. It's embarrassing after all the hoopla about how great our defense is. All teams have to be able to go to at least try a zone in a situation like this. Change something up or we're dead.

just one of those games.... will be very fortunate to pull out a victory with the way we've played so far in the 2nd half. come on horns, buckle down. i'm gonna take a shower before work, and i hope we've tied it when i'm done.
