Anyone who has ever played any sport at any level, will tell you one of the biggest thrills of all is to win on the road. Especially when you could have just as easily lost. Great game Ladies. This is a tough league to make a living in!
Great win today especially on the road! Hey, I was told by a buddy of mine who happens to live in Kansas that there was a big-time recruit watching the Horns today and was sitting behind their bench. Does anybody know who this might be? He went to watch the KU boys play, but
noticed the player who happened to still be there when he got there since the game lasted so long because of the overtimes. He did not know who the young lady was, but he does not pay much attention to the girl's side of the sport. He said he asked a few KU fans who she was and they said she was an all-state performing guard from near the Kansas City area who was receiving alot of interest from D-1 schools, but was unsure of her name. He said she had good size to her and that she was decked out in Texas gear. Any ideas who this could be?
I got a chance to see this game in person, it was just nerve-wracking and heart-stopping!!
Cokie had a career-high game, was pretty unstoppable in the paint, made me wonder why she wasn't used more....Post defense was a bit lacking, as evidenced by KU's Post points...
AT was the savior of the day....her three was just the lift we needed to get back out and play well the last few min....
Some truly horrible calls were made (good ol' home cookin' again), and we were under cut so many times, I lost count....it was dangerous, and that is how Erika got hurt....she did come back out, but was still hurting, and will be looked at in Austin, I am sure.
BUT, good teams find a way to win, and while I puzzled at some of the play calling, it worked out well in the end.....
We need to work on defense, and protecting the ball....a few extra sloppy passes, and the team's flight home would have been sad, not glad!!
The team is cohesive and focused, and I think that will get us far...
The game never should have gone into OT, much like the ISU game, but they faced the adversity, and "womaned up"...
(stealing line from previous poster...)
Very sad, scary, after all she has been through....my heart breaks for her, but it may turn out to be just a tweak or something....she is the best ball handler on the team, so I am praying it is not too bad...
So did Erika play after coming back? Is that why she only played 21 minutes? I hadn't looked at her minutes before but would have expected her to play more in a double OT game with her passing and shooting skills.
She went to locker room briefly, came out, then was put back in for a bit....she was in obvious pain, came out again....limping when last seen....again, I don't THINK it is a season-ender, but may take time???
