Both Texas and ISU are tied with Tech for fifth place at 6-6. They are two games out of fourth, currently held by KSU at 8-4. This is an important game for both Texas and ISU, not just for Big 12 standings, but with NCAA implications. Both teams come into this one after going 2-2 in the last four games. ISU does have an advantage, having won their last game handily over Colorado 71-45 while Texas was stumbling at OU, losing 62-91.Remaining Big 12 games:

ISU is led by Kelsey Bolte (# 11, 6-1 Sr. G, 20.7 ppg) and Anna Prins (# 55, 6-7 Soph. C, 11.3 ppg). Those two are also the best Cyclones from BTA. Bolte is making 46.8% (29-62) of her threes while Prins is at 40.0% (12-30). Kelsey Harris (# 3, 5-10 Soph. G) at 40% (8-20); Amanda Zimmerman (# 42, 6-1 Soph. F) at 35.7% (5-14); and Lauren Mansfield (# 10, 5-7 Jr. G) at 35.5% 11-31) are the other main threats from BTA for the Cyclones. As a team, ISU is shooting 71.5% from the FT line, due mainly to Bolte’s 91.7% (55-60). Hallie Christofferson (# 5-, 6-3 Fr. F) is the only other Cyclone making over 70% from the FT line at 75.7% (28-37). Chelsea Poppens (# 33, 6-2 Soph. F) is their top rebounder at 7.2 rpg. Bolte is second at 6.1 rpg. Mansfield is their top distributor with 51 assists in Big 12 games. Chassidy Cole (# 23, 5-8 Jr. G) is nest with 33 assists. Four other ISU players have between 10 and 14. Christofferson’s ten blocks lead the team while Prins’ nine are second and Bolte’s six third on the team. Bolte (13), Mansfield (10) and Poppens (10) lead the way in steals.
There are 10 players on the ISU roster. Six have played in all 12 league games, 2 have played in 11. Nine have started at least one Big 12 game with Bolte and Mansfield starting all twelve. Bolte is averaging over 37 minutes a game with Mansfield over 32 and Christofferson is at 30 mpg. Five others average over 10 minutes per game. There have been three different lineups in the last four games with Poppens and Christofferson constants while Cole started the two middle games. Jessica Schroll (# 12, 5-11 Soph.G/F) started the first game of this past four game section while Prins started the last one.
Chassidy (19.9 ppg) and Kat (11.1 ppg) are the two Horns in double digits in scoring. Both Ashleigh and Yvonne are averaging 9.8 ppg in Big 12 games. Yvonne is the most accurate 3pt shooter for the Horns at 46.4% on 13-28. Chassidy (31-76, 40.8%) and Kat (17-55, 30.9%) are the main 3pt threats for the Horns. Kat (28-32, 87.5%) and Chassidy (54-63, 85.7%) are the two Horns over 70% from the FT line. Kat is the top rebounder at 7.8 rpg while Kristen (5.8 rpg) and Ashleigh (5.2 rpg) are others over 5 rpg. Ashleigh tops the team with 41 assists while Yvonne (25) and Chassidy (21) are also over 20 assists. Kat at 18 assists needs two more to join the 20+ assist club. Ashley has 35 blocks while Kristen has 12. Chassidy has 21 steals to top the team while Ashleigh (19) and Yvonne (16) are the other Horns in double figure steals.
Three Horns are averaging over 30 minutes a game: Chassidy (32.7), Kat (34.7) and Ashleigh (33.8) while Yvonne is averaging 29.0 mpg. Four other Horns are averaging double figures in minutes. Of the 11 Horns on the roster, 7 have played in all 12 games, Chelsea has played in all 11 she was cleared to play in, and the other three have gotten into at least 2 games.
Projected starting lineups based on the last game. Texas has had seven players start in Big 12 games. ISU has had nine players start a Big 12 game.Horns have had three players start all 12 conference games while ISU has two.

Kat (6-2) Christofferson (6-3)
Kristen (6-3) Prins (6-7)
Yvonne (5-7) Mansfield (5-7)
Chassidy (5-10) Bolte (6-1)
Ashleigh (5-8) Poppens (6-2) /pre>Bolte and Prins have been the mainstays in scoring for ISU. Bolte is another big guard that will have a height advantage on her Texas defender. She and Yvonne are the two top 3pt shooters by percentage although Bolte has taken and made about twice as many 3s as Yvonne. Prins’ height will present a problem for the Horn post players on defense. Prins has some decent moves and knows how to take advantage of her height near the basket. She is also capable of hitting from BTA at 44.4%. Horns will need to know where she is when she trails the breaks and not leave her open BTA. Horns will be seeking to get open looks for Yvonne and Kat as well as have all backcourt players drive into the paint. ISU doesn’t block many shots.

ISU is the top 3pt shooting team in the league but they run their offense and get shooters open rather than fast break. Horns will need to push the tempo on offense and guard the 3pt line, especially on Bolte and Prins. Can’t leave them open even to help a teammate or they will sink a 3. Horns are second in the league in rebounding but give a lot more than ISU does. Defensive rebounding to eliminate second and third chances will be critical. This has been a problem area in the games that Texas has lost. ISU doesn’t force many TOs but neither do they turn it over much. Horns will need pressure to see if they can force TOs leading to easy baskets.
Both teams are aware how important this game is to their hopes for the NCAA. This should be a close game with an outcome that could go to either team.
The game will be on ESPN2 at 8 pm CST. The radio broadcast in the Austin area will be on KVET 1300 AM beginning at 7:45 pm. Live stats will be available through the cyclone website.
