agreed BBV. the announcers talked at the start of the game about our depth and balance, and today's game was a perfect showcase of that. the starters were struggling to get going on the offensive end, but Erika, Lindsey and Earnie stepped up big time.
Erika lives to take that shot with a defender in her face! she took control at the end of the game, and nobody could stop her.
Agreed...nice to see Erika knock 'em down. Her shooting can be the difference in this team winning and losing, as evidenced today. Also nice to see that 5 of her 7 made field goals were of the 2 point variety, which sounds like she was moving well without the ball and also creating her own shot. Anyone who takes 15 shots obviously has confidence. Way to go Erika!
This is a very impressive win...a road win against a top 20 team.
I'm so proud of this team today. It would have been so easy to fold in the first half but they fought back and learned a great lesson today. They can use this lesson in other games and more importantly in life.
Never give up and always keep chipping away and one can accomplish great things.
Way to go Horns! Keep up the good work. Fantastic Game.
Erika is great and I hope she has a great ending this year and a fantastic year next year which will be her last. She deserves it with the injury and bad luck she has had so far.
Yeah, thanks Norco, but even more, let's thank Big Jim and Alexis for having a wonderful daughter, and big kudos to Jody Conradt who flew out to CA to seal the deal on her to get her to come to Texas..
And I am soooooo happy for Erika's comeback, her courage and her grit......I am really happy for her, and happy she is lovin' the game that she is so good at again....
Wow! Just looking at the stats for the game. A favorite hobby of mine. I thought they had shot a lot more FT than the Horns had but it was the other way around (9-12 to 7-8). Texas also got an extra 8 FG attempts due to their pressure. ISU only hit 7 of 25 3s (28%) while the Horns made 2-15 (13.3%), both well below their Big 12 averages. Ezell was only 1-6 from BTA. It was a tough, defensive struggle which the Horns managed to pull out. Past close games have taught this team that they can win those close games. And that they have plenty of others to step up and score when their top scorers are struggling like Kat, Brit and Ashleigh were tonight.
Fantastic win for the Horns. Nunber five in a row was a tough nut to crack.
Erika Arriaran has been my favorite player since she stepped foot on campus because I like her shot and confidence. I always knew she was cappable of taking over a game with her shooting. Also cudos to Ernesha Williams and Ashley Lindsay for their proformances.
On the HoopScoop boardThe Link in a separate thread and in the UT/ISU thread, some Iowa State fans are reporting that Texas declined to wear (provided) pink uniforms today and some them seem to be out of sorts about it. Here's a question in a separate thread.
I don't know anything, but I do know that we are fighting for our lives in the toughest conference in the country....to change things up when we have a good routine going is stupid, and I am with you Rexy......not bothered at all....
The team supports the Pink Campaign in many other ways, and will surely do so this Wednesday!
Several players were wearing pink sneakers. I think we would have been the team in all pink if other games I saw were any indication. Can't blame the team for wanting to wear their regular road unis. The team has shown support for this breast cancer program in many ways.
No doubt that TX has shown, and will continue to show support for breast cancer. I thought only the home teams were to wear the "pink unis" this week!????!!!!
Erika - thank you! Thank you for not giving up and being a game changer. Keep shooting - girl! KEEP SHOOTING!!
Sidebar - The ALL pink unis are an eye sore. I like the white unis w/ the pink trim...more pleasing to the eye. Maybe it's the shade of pink. That bright pepto pink is horrendous. Maybe a soft subtle pink w/ the lettering in the bright pink. I don't know but anything but the all pepto pink.
One of the games I was watching had the visiting team wearing what was generally the road uni, except instead of the white under the arms (between the front and back half of the jersey), that portion had been done in pink. At least that way, there was not such a radical change between the colors the players expect to look for out of the corner of their eye on a quick play...
I can easily see many legitimate reasons for not wanting a road pepto-pink uniform...
