Up by 12!!!!!!

Horns rolling now, up by 15!! OTOH, NC is still having all kinds of trouble with Tenn-Martin, down by 18 with just over 10 mins to play.

Imani (20 pts) and Nekia (14 pts) leading Texas in scoring.
Horns up by 15 with 4:21 to go.
Can't let up, still too much time left.
Stipanovich has a nice touch on that midrange baseline jumper. Horns have held Baron to 7 pts in the second half.

Fantastic...18 of 18 free throws? Historic, for us anyway. Imani was great.. Nekia was key in turning things around, as we can now expect. Everyone did well. That was fun.

Plonsky has to be very proud. Way to right a million dollar wrong!
Congrats again ladies! Enjoy the win and get ready for the next game.

Didn't look good early, but the team never stopped fighting. Great win for a team with so little NCAA tourney experience.

Nneka did not even register one rebound from what Craig Way said on the post game; not sure that has ever happened to her. She's gonna have to do a much better job on Tuesday night.

Brady was pretty much ineffective; not sure if that was because she had so much trouble on defense that it affected the rest of her game. She usually wins a lot of the hustle plays, but that didn't happen for her (or the rest of the team) in the first half.

Empress came out on fire in the second half; really set the tone.

Nekia just knows how to play basketball; she has a very good feel for the game, and things seem to come naturally to her.

GiGi was my unsung hero. She came in to spot Nneka early and seemed to do so many good things for us, despite it not showing up on the scoreboard.

Imani carried the load; she didn't let some early misses linger the entire game. She established great position, and finished over and over.

Glad we advanced; that is what it is all about this time of year. Hope the team leaves it all on the floor on Tuesday evening against Maryland; no regrets!

man, glad it wasn't anything that ended up tragic.

Moo, Nneka will need to bring it against Thomas. Not sure we have anyone else capable of going against Thomas one on one defensively. Nneka basically mirrors Thomas in quickness and strength. That is going to be a key matchup for Texas.

Had to track this on my phone and watch later. Wasn't sure I'd want to watch it later. Great second half -- both by the players and the coaches.

I wonder if Texas has ever been 100% at the free-throw line in the history of the program?

Tuesday is going to be fun to watch. It will be a loud and rowdy home crowd for Maryland. Would love to send them home in silance. And would love to be there.

Those back to back possessions of ours about 4 minutes into the second half where Wilson got called for an obviously clean stuff of Imani despite the ref being right there with a perfect angle, followed by a charge on Nneka for a solid post move where the defender just slipped, makes me wonder if that wasn't deliberately a make-up call. I'd like to imagine that those only happen subconsciously, but pair of back to back awful whistles like that make me think it's sometimes intentional.

So, how long has it been since we've advanced to the Sweet 16?

I think it was 2004 when we made it to the Seattle regional as the #1 overall seed, but were upset by LSU.

Prior to that, we made the Sweet 16 in 2003 & 2002.

So, that's three times in the last 20-25 years or so? Hope we can start a new trend/streak tomorrow.
