Stevens up now and he singles to center to put a runner on with one away.

The speedster left fielder Lee is up now and after two balls to Lee here comes Skip out for a chat.

Skip back to the dugout now, but it didn't help as Goins completes the walk on four pitches

Two one with one out and out comes Skip with a hook this time and Goins is done for the night.

The new hurler for Texas is Freshman Josh Sawyer to face right fielder Ware also a lefty.

A double steal on a close play at third as the throw by Barrera was a little on the foul side of third.

So it's up to Hinjosa with two away and a double steal this time goes Texas's way without a throw.

He pops up to short and the shortstop Gipson circles and drops the easy third out.

You rock NB, thanks so much for your time and efforts. I'm signal-strength challenged and don't get LHN so I sit here staring at my computer.

At least the baseball team can effectively score tonight. This is the first time I've check this score tonight. I needed a pick-me-up after watching the basketball game.

Lee leads off for the Islanders in the seventh and he lines one to Marlow for the first out.

Ware battting from the left side is up now against Malmin walks on a full count pitch.

McGuire up now chops one back to Keith and he throws him out for two away.

Montalbano ground to third to retire the side in order.

To the eighth Texas leads 8-0.

Hollingsworht K's the lead off man Garza that came in to play short after the second drop pop up for one away.

A ground ball to first goes 3-1 for the second out.

A single to right puts on a two out base runner.

That brings out Skip and he motions for Justin Peters to come into the game to pitch.

Peters a lefty in to face the lefty hitter.

He K's him swinging to retire the side.

Bottom of the eighth coming with Texas ahead 8-0.

So a funny thing happened as I clicked to put up the last post of the game which turned out to be the bottom of the eighth.

It seems Hornfans went down like it was shot at just that time.

Let's see if I can summarize what happened.

Basically Marlow singled home the ninth run and Hinojosa followed with a SF that ended the game on the 10 run rule.

Texas won 10-0.

It was a game to get the rest of the staff some work and the freshmen and Hollingsworth did a good job. There were some bad errors from the Islanders that broke the game open.

The bats banged out 11 hits and the fielding has settled down.

The best news of the night was hearing that Ty Marlow and John Curtis should both be available soon to add even more arms to a deep pitching staff. Curtis coming off Tommy John surgery could really make a difference if he can bounce back to his prior form.

So it's on to this weekend's Stanford series which is really big for both teams. Stanford struggled at home against Rice losing two out of three and Texas just needs to win a series of any kind after last season.

Hopefully Texas can win at least two of three from Stanford and gain some early season confidence and get ready for conference play. Just need the bats to be fairly consistent and get a few runs for that pitching staff. They don't need much help, but as last season proved they can't do it all by themselves.

Beat Stanford!

Outstanding work again, NB!

Had to give my tix to a Friend last night so I was looking forward to your game thread and you did not disappoint. Felt like I was there and I even enjoyed the off-camera ribbing I'm sure our 3-sacker got when he got back in the dugout after stepping on the bag and looking around at his stunned Teammates wondering why they were looking at him like that...

44 straight is some strong stuff for our CF.

Getting back two pitchers to our already unfair Staff should be quite the frustration point to our upcoming opponents. Time to prune the tree and show that we are back and to be feared. As Coach would say, "Strap on your 'stuff' ", Stanford.

Hook 'em.

Thanks for the updates. Hopefully the hitting, the fielding and the pitching are solid/strong all weekend for Stanford.
