texas 100 out, ou commits hit hard

glenn,

are you Ketch or just a "good friend" of his?

"it was very interesting to me with this update to see tcu kids really move up.

dang, if that is accurate and tcu keeps that up it wouldn't surprise me to some day soon see tcu go to a bcs bowl and oklahoma not. that is IF ketch is anything like right."

TCU-commit and Texas-target Kolby Griffin dropped like a rock after he chose the Frogs. If Ketch were as insightful as you seem to think he is he would have had TCU recruits higher the last several years since the frogs got to a BCS bowl last year rather than moving them up this year, after they already played in the game.

We all know this little problem with ketch's list, and it's fine since his list doesn't mean anything. Everyone overrates kids who pick their school and underrates rival school's kids and targets who commit elsewhere. No way KH would've dropped like that had he chosed Texas.

ketch wouldn't know me from the man in the moon. if he and i ever exchange even a hello it will be a surprise to me. i've seen him at events, but he is busy with things and so am i, sort of.

i don't imagine he is a great talent scout, but he has been right enough times that i pay somewhat more attention to his lists than i do the rivals brain trust. but to the point of the present diatribe, i have seen him go against the grain enough times that i don't think he cooks the books. it just torques my turnbuckles a little bit when i see someone from a known bunch of weasels claim they see a pointy nose on one of us.

regarding kolby griffin, i've seen idle speculation that his stock may have dropped with our staff, and that we may have indicated to him that he wouldn't be offered at the second junior day. that might explain what happened. maybe.

i agree, pharmed. it really is ridiculous to put out lists now. that's why there is so much movement with the updates.

of course, the reason they put them out is because we read them and get all cross-eyed over them. them's dollars in the bank to those guys.

How does a Jr. recruit move up or down the rankings during spring? Does Ketchum base it on their basketball or track performance?

ketch adjusts his rankings based on what the national rivals guys are saying. if he knows the national guys are hot and heavy about a prospect, he bumps up their rankings.

for the most part, he's fairly pedestrian as a talent evaluator. But then again, thats not what he sets out to do.

that sounds about right, bundy, but i've seen ketch go hard against the rivals guys, anyway.

i do think he pays a lot of attention to the offer list -- and should -- and commitment to a major program has a huge impact on his impression.

like you say, ketch is not a scout and is not expected to be one. however he develops his opinions, though, i don't think he is determined to make texas look good.
