Call me naive, but I think RT spent so much time between December and March holding together the day-to-day operations that the player-personnel angle of his job fell apart
That makes sense, especially since a big part of his day to day operations included "trying to get past the mess Beard's issues/ouster created".
rt took Beards team to the elite 8. He did not build the team, Beard did and rt just inherited it when Beard melted down. Yes rt was part of the process but does the equipment manager at Georgia or Alabama get credit for their championships?
I don't get the equipment manager comparison at all though. Yeah, he didn't build the roster, but he had the weight of the program shifted to him and had to make all the tough gameday calls and make sure the locker room held together psychologically and emotionally.
