Call me naive, but I think RT spent so much time between December and March holding together the day-to-day operations that the player-personnel angle of his job fell apart

That makes sense, especially since a big part of his day to day operations included "trying to get past the mess Beard's issues/ouster created".

rt took Beards team to the elite 8. He did not build the team, Beard did and rt just inherited it when Beard melted down. Yes rt was part of the process but does the equipment manager at Georgia or Alabama get credit for their championships?

I don't get the equipment manager comparison at all though. Yeah, he didn't build the roster, but he had the weight of the program shifted to him and had to make all the tough gameday calls and make sure the locker room held together psychologically and emotionally.

It is easy to get the equipment manager comparison if you just realize that guy hasn't given RT one ounce of honest credit since the moment he was named head coach. It's just what he does.

For those who don't watch every highlight video, Cam Scott would probably be our best catch-and-shoot player ever. Without exaggeration. Like a swingman version of Steph Curry who can also run the floor and rebound. In South Carolina, 8th graders are allowed to play varsity if they meet grade and eligibility requirements, and as a 13-year-old, he averaged 16 and 6. Beard has been going after him for years.

I still think Durant would be the better overall player in Longhorn lore because of accounting for his presence on the floor, but Scott could probably make the Texas Mount Rushmore of basketball if he came here.

Great pickup. I hope he actually makes it to campus. It’s a long time between now and then and commitments and letters of intent are not what they used to be and there are a lot of off ramps to professional leagues these days.

Yeah I'm really hoping this isn't a Ron Holland situation. Scott is excellent and I could see him playing overseas for a year before getting drafted.
