Tennis '22-'23 Season

Hi UT Tennis Fan,
Happy 4th of July! I am writing with news of the hiring of our new Assistant Coach, Ryan Lipman. We are very excited to welcome Ryan to our team, and are looking forward to the contributions he will undoubtedly make in the coming years.

In other news, Eliot Spizzirri will be kicking off play at the ATP Challenger level this week in Michigan. Here is a nice article about the opportunities he has earned based on being the top ranked player in college last season. Speaking of Eliot, check out what UT Athletic Director Chris Del Conte (CDC) had to say about him in the most recent Forty Acres Insider (scroll down to see the section about Eliot). Several of our other players will be competing in the weeks to come, and we'll be sure to keep you posted on any noteworthy results.

Finally, if any of you are having withdrawal symptoms from not watching any UT Men's Tennis in recent months, here is a cool highlight video we put together from last season. It is long (about an hour), but you are welcome to click if you want to check it out. There were so many highlights last year that it was a challenge to keep it short! The video runs in chronological order of our season, so the NCAA tournament highlights are at the end.

Until next time, Hook'em!

Sincerely,
Bruce Berque

I hope you are having a great summer. We have some more exciting news for you. Jonah Braswell will be joining our team this coming Fall. As you might have guessed, Jonah is a younger brother of Micah Braswell, who is a rising senior on our team. Jonah will be transferring to Texas after his first year at the University of Florida, and we expect him to be a major impact player for the next three years. To read all about Jonah's exceptional freshman year at Florida, and his standout junior career please click on this press release.

In other news, several of our players are out playing tournaments this week. Micah Braswell is at a #25k futures in Waco, Siem Woldeab is at a $15k futures in California, Lucas Brown will be playing an invitational UTR tournament in Midland, TX, and Eliot Spizzirri will be playing the qualifying of the ATP grass court event in Newport, RI, and then the main draw of doubles (with Tommy Paul). Sincerely,
Bruce Berque
