Teenage girls are evolving

I can't find a single good thing about this. I just have so many questions.
Why would these 8 teens think anything good would come of this?
Where were their parents?
What would they have to gain in doing this?
They had to know they were going to get caught?

Man, my mind just spins. This is one of the saddest stories I have heard in a long time, and more sad still is that I know this isn't that uncommon. Senseless violence I mean.

You know, that was a vicious terrible thing to do.

Looks like these girls are going to be charged as adults too.

One side of me says throw the book at them. Then I think I'd really hate for any of the stupid things I did when I was 16 to dictate the rest of my life.

But then I never did anything violent.

Definitely thrown the book at them. How would you feel if that happened to your daughter? I don't care what age you are. You know that is a bad thing to do on so many levels. Make the punishment fit the crime.

I know this is not a very original comment, but I really worry that humanity is becoming increasingly desensitized to violence as a result of the routine depiction and even glorification of violence in film, television and video games. To me it is a matter of common sense. If for some reason brother-sister incest began to be depicted on a regular basis in blockbuster movies, and the actors engaging in incest were hip, attractive and happy, then I believe barriers would begin to break down. Or if you don't like that example, take smoking. There is still smoking depicted in movies, but it is now controversial and you don't see it that often (I don't think). But let's suppose smoking became all the rage again on television shows and in movies. Does anybody doubt there would be an increase in cigarette sales?

Not saying we should ban violence or embark on a campaign of censorship. I have no idea what the solution is, I just know there's a problem.

The Barbie Beatdown.

I choose to believe this is an isolated incident and the U.S. isn't being overrun by gangs of ***-kicking cheerleaders.

BTW, I'm not sure those girls are ready for the mean streets of Miami just yet. As beatings go, that was pretty much a pillow fight.

HH, yeah, I know. Maybe it's just a matter of perception. For example, the football player in LA who was gunned down for no reason by strangers. That kind of thing is just shocking. Senseless, random violence. But maybe you're right, maybe things have always been that way and we just hear about it more as a result of media coverage.

Captain Murphy,

The pyramids of the Great Temple in Tenochtitlan were inaugurated in 1487 with four days of ritual sacrifices that were reported by several sources to claim 80,400 lives ----- mostly by people being tied up alive and having their beating hearts cut out.

Are people really more violent today than in the past?

Teenage girls are no more evolved than they ever have been. Go try to have a 'normal' conversation with one if you need to remind yourself.

If anything, the human race (with teenagers along for the ride) is devolving. Here's hoping these girls are charged as adults and spend a little time locked up with bigger and badder women who will likewise kick the **** out of them.

I don't know if people are any more violent today than in times past, but it does speak volumes, I believe, that our hearts continue to revolt against such violence as being any type of good.

the sad thing is that the girl was already knocked out before that portion of the tape that you see there.
They had one of the girls mothers on the Today show to rebut. What a treat she was. Bascially stating the girl should not have talked trash or she wouldn't have been beat up. Genius I tell ya.

I agree with Hayden and think we are less violent than we were in the past (although maybe teenage girls are more violent, who knows). We no longer have public lynchings and fistfights seem to be growing rarer and rarer (perhaps b/c the fear of escalating into greater violence).

Yep, whiskey tango. I cannot imagine how these gals could make any cheerleading squad in existence. That alone makes me weep for mankind. I'm going to go ahead and make a guess that the fellas involved in this wear their hats with a straight bill and a little bit askew. You know, keepin' it real, yo.

That mother is something else. She seems to think it's ok for her daughter to just go around beating up other people. That is really sad.

The good news is everyone is having to answer for their part. Can you imagine being a parent of the one of the kids charged in this?

I would like to hear from more of the parents. What are the rest saying?

Do me a favor guys........

Watch this link below and tell me if the father of this girl IS NOT shamelessly angling for a paycheck from myspace.

Nobody deserves a beating like that, but if back in the day some girl wrote grafitii on the school walls calling half a dozen girls whores and sluts and then SIGNED it she would have a 75% chance of recieving an unholy asskicking. This says nothing of "society today". Kids are brutal...........always have been. The internet did not beat this girl up.

Again, not saying it was warranted, but every parent should teach their kid that being "nice" is the best way to have a worry free high school career.

I will say one thing about todays society...............When did they start letting below average looking girls be cheerleaders?

Interview w/ victims parents

who cares about society and history. I am a father and I pray to God I don't ever see my little girl in a situation like that on either side.

If she was the agressor, it might be the last thing she ever did.

If she was the victim, God help the agressor.
