Tech vs TCU

I want TCU and their #1 pitching staff out of the tourney asap. As should the rest of the Horns nation. 1 run in 27 innings isn't a fluke.

None of the teams from Texas headed to the CWS is the same team played by the other two during conference play. And that's the beauty of baseball.

Seems to me every team we have played in both reg season and postseason we have either knocked off again or lost to again. All 4 teams...same results.

Tech...beat again. OSU...lost 2 of 3 to again. Rice...beat again. Houston...beat again.

Sure we might could scrape out a few low run wins against TCU. But that pitching staff is the best in the nation for a reason, and had our number for 27 innings. Why would anyone prefer or even be neutral about facing that staff again over a Tech team we beat 3 times already??? I'd be confident against either, but there's no doubt seeing Tech is the much lesser of 2 evils.

Who can forget Augies quote when asked about our chances in the 2005 CWS?

"Everyone knows we can't be Baylor."

Not rooting against either, but would feel more comfortable without TCU's ace pitcher looming ahead of us. We have some tough business to attend to first, so not too worried about either at this point.
Several of the teams at Omaha have a real star power ace pitcher, like TCU, and we don't. However, we have been getting the job done, and hope that continues.

Good luck to both teams, and congrats to both on reaching Omaha. May the best team win....in 24 tense, nerve-wracked innings, after using every last pitcher in the pen & with all position players ending the game uninjured but fall-on-your-face exhausted.

Guns up! I will never forget the arrogance of the TCU fans when they beat us in the Super in Austin. Their fans acted like baseball was invented in Fort Worth.

One little froggie frat boy said to me, "Y'all should just give up."

A little story with respect to Augie's remark about Baylor:

I was standing in the ladies' room line at the 2005 CWS, and there were some BU fans in line a few spots behind me. A fan of another team asked them about their upcoming game with Texas. One of the Baylor fans responded, in a volume that was deliberately loud enough for me to hear, "Oh, we don't worry about Texas. If there's one thing we know, Texas can't beat us." I just turned and asked, in the sweetest possible way, "Is this your first trip to Omaha?" She responded, "Why, yes, it is." So I cloyingly said, "Well, I hope you have a perfectly wonderful time!"

Epilogue: We went out and beat Baylor, 5-1. We beat them again, 5-4, to win our pool with a walk-off home hit by a one-armed first baseman, no less.

I prefer to play the games first.

An all-Texas finals would be sweet, but only if the Horns win it.

I'm all for conference and state (except a&m) pride whenever possible, but truly only care about how MY team does.
