There's a sizable cattle feedlot in SE Lubbock on the way to Slaton and Post. It smells pretty bad in that area. Not sure how that would impact TT recruiting though... They have a great basketball arena, good fan support, good co-eds, lots of the things young men would naturally look for.

Night life--it ain't Austin, but there is much worse in the Big 12.

Beard isn't now and was not particularly interested in going UT.

Haven't seen much of lecturer recently. I wonder why that is?

May from two years ago was the "peak" of the chatter about getting rid of Shaka but not being able to afford the buyout. I think anyone would have taken Beard, but realists understood that it would have taken a massive cash dump or Shaka admitting to some kind of wrongdoing in order to make it happen.

I guess all it really took was winning the conference tournament and a quick exit from the NCAAs to make him rethink the perils of coaching at a football school.
