TCU @ TX (2/11/23)

The ladies need to take a few lessons from the men on FT shooting and taking care of the ball. Improvements there and this team is beating TCU by 30+ not 20.

And reality is that this team isn't going to get to the E8, FF without improvements in those areas.

I would take lessons from anyone who could help the team improve these skills...not just "the men".:D

Generally don't female bball players shoot free throws better than males?
I am just kinda remembering this was pointed out by a talking sports head.

Glad to hear Rori say the team is at least talking about not being complacent with their current play. I agree with her 100% that they need to start walking the walk lest someone come up and slap them when they're not expecting it.

Definitely, but just looking at the box score from the men's game made me use it as the example.

Yes, and maybe they have better control when it comes to touch, but they also use a smaller ball and that certainly has an impact.

I don’t think the original post was meant as a battle of the sexes but rather a positive comment on the UT MBB shooting 98% from the line on Saturday.

Yea the men broke their previous program record of hitting 26 FT’s in a row by hitting 30 over a span of the last two games. Now I’m curious what the women’s program record is but too lazy to research it.

Whatever the record is, it didn’t happen this season. LOL

Question about the kicked ball rule. "
  1. A player shall not kick the ball or strike it with the fist.
  2. Kicking the ball or striking it with any part of the leg is a violation when it is an intentional act. The ball accidentally striking the foot, the leg or fist is not a violation.
  3. A player may not use any part of his leg to intentionally move or secure the ball.
    1. PENALTY:
      1. If the violation is by the offense, the ball is awarded to the opposing team on the sideline nearest the spot of the violation but no nearer to the baseline than the free throw line extended.
In the TCU game, a TCU player on offense, dribbled the ball off her own foot, clearly not intensional, but the refs called the violation and awarded the ball to TCU.

Also, I see a violation called any time there is a kicked ball, intentional or not.
Clarification?
