TCU needs Big 12 invite.

With the 2 schools that just jumped from Big East to ACC TCU has got to be a little uneasy with their move next year to the Big East. Make them the Aggie replacement and start up a new instate rivarly. That is what the fans want. Local games to attend and cheer at. The majority of the fans cannot schedule Pacific Coast travel arrangements every other weekend. Do this and all will be well for the time being.

I'm happy with just 10 teams. Of course a rename would be in order.

Instead of possibly playing in Cowboy stadium each year for the Big 12 championship we could garauntee book it each year against a top tier team. And it also sucked trying to get your travel plans and tickets in order with only 1 week notice for the championship game.

Things like that would be even greatly complicated in a PAC 16. How are they going to do it? Would it be just 2 divisions and the winners would go to a championship game which could require you to travel a thousand miles to in less than 1 week notice? Or would there be a 4 team playoff for PAC 12 champion. I bet that each year the winner of each division would probably come to tie breaks.

I like the idea of playoffs but only if it involves all the big conferences. But that ain't happening until the BCS contract dies.

Stop this crazy rhoetric and invite TCU and be done with it!

Baylor and Ken need to increase their efforts to absorb some of these programs and start a new conference:

Baylor
TCU
SMU
Rice
Houston
UTEP
CIncinnati
Louisville
Iowa State
Marshall
New Mexico
Colorado State
Air Force
Boise State
Nevada
UNLV

Assuming Kansas and K-State end up elsewhere.

oh for Chrissakes NO!!!!

TCU does not bring any new revenue base whatsoever, they can't even sell out their home games (what... one sell out in 2 years?), they are wretched in all other sports.

The only thing they would do is lessen the amount of revenue Big 12 schools get while contributing NOTHING financially.

Jesus.. enough with the "TCU' crap.

Doesn't matter what Texas thinks. If OU bails, the B12 is dead.

I agree that continuing the B12 is the best solution for Texas and probably for all the other schools in the conference, but unless there is a higher level of commitment that just isn't going to happen. Why some see greater stability in a conference that has a huge geographical spread, few historical or cultural ties between the new members and the old, and where some of the existing members (AZ and ASU) hate the impact the new members will have baffles me, but they do. Admittedly, Texas has thrown its weight around and contributed to the lack of cohesion, but that issue should have been addressed head on rather than bailing out. Regardless, college football seems destined to a serious decline the next few years. I hope it can recover, but I'm not hopeful. I think they may have killed the golden goose.

When/if Texas/TT and OU/OSU leave, the best thing for the ones left behind is to simply merge the Big 12 and the Big East into one conference. I'm not sure what other alternatives they will really have. They could probably pick up SMU and/or Houston as well if they really needed to.

In the Pac-16 it is easier getting in and out of DFW then Lubbock, more recruits in Dallas then in Lubbock, it is within an hour drive of my home, and I think TCU is on the way down and a patsy in our pod would be nice.

The Pac-12 schools care about playing in Texas and I think they would prefere to play in DFW then in Lubbock.

I just don't think the Pac-12 schools would go for a religious school.

Once OU bails, OSU goes too and Mizzou won't be far behind reported that Iowa State and Baylor contacted the Big East conference over the weekend about membership, but Syracuse and Pitt officially requested membership in the ACC. so the whole college landscape is screwed up right now.

What a mess...

Revenue? You really think Texas is lacking in revenue? You would rather degrade the fan experience to give Texas a little extra money? You must be on the Texas payroll.

And good luck flying to California for the PAC 12 championship game at the last minute airfare prices. Yeah that really ADDS to the experience.

Listen if you want to play USC or Oregon each year book them at Cowboy stadium like the LSU did this year. Who really wants to play the other PAC 12 schools anyways?

There was a reason we left TCU long ago. No need to make the same mistake twice.

Once and for all, we don't need a team in DFW, Houston, San Antonio, etc. We are the market leader in those markets.

Longhorn Mike:

What I am saying is that the other teams across the conference would rather physically play in DFW then in Lubbock. I think playing in DFW would have much more appeal to them then playing in Lubbock.

Tech nor TCU brings many additional TV sets, but the Pac-12 schools playing in Central and North Texas would be much more enticing then playing in barren waste land that smells like horse manure!

It would be great for the fans, so it won't happen.

A lot of misinformation in here. "wretched at other sports" Really? CWS. Ranked in the top 25 in every single sport they field (besides MBB) at some point last year.

And attendance smack is really weak. Who were their last sellouts against? ranked Utah and Tech? Baylor? Don't you think they would have a little less problem selling tickets if Texas, OU, Tech, Baylor, etc... played there?

And as far as tv sets and stuff: why should any fans give a rats ***? Does that make ticket prices for us cheaper? Do we get a partial refund of our LF donations? Fans should care about competition on the field and TCU would improve that. I'd much rather watch TCU-Tech, than Tech-Indiana State or TCU-Syracuse.

Pick UH not TCU, what I am saying is leverage with who Texas brings along or suggest we bring along. Allowing the Pac-12 schools to play in one of the major cities is more appealing to them then playing in Lubbock. The exposure for those schools would be twice what it would be if they played in Lubbock.

I was using TCU as an example, they have won the Rose Bowl and a BCS bowl, steadily improved their program and facilities.

We offer up a pawn like TCU or UH vs, Tech and maybe it would allow us some additional negotiation leverage.

Hell ask OU and OSU would they rather play in Lubbock, Houston or DFW every other year?

Just trying to find Texas additional negotiation leverage.

The only way the Big-12 survives is if the PAC-12 says "no" to Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. And "yes" that could happen, considering the crappy academic ranking of the two States.

But then, what's to prevent OU and Oklahoma State from applying to the SEC, or OU applying to either conference without Oklahoma State?

I always here this thing about Legislative bound, is this true or just one of those things that it happened back in the 1990's and now everyone just assumes that about state schools?

Obviously any BU fan like me wants OU to stick around and the Big 12 to thrive but if the Okies to PAC happens and no other league invites us I hope the following happens:

- PAC either goes to 16 with UT and Tech or shuts down at 14 if not.
-ACC goes to 14 or 16 and ONLY takes Rutgers & Cuse if anyone.
-SEC sticks at 14 with either Mizzou or WVU as team 14. If WVU is left out they are slightly more stable for a remnant league but either will do.
-ND stays indy and the Big Ten stays at 12 for their financial best interest.

Then the remaining schools in the Big 12 and Big East are:

Baylor
TCU
KU
KSU
MU or WVU
ISU
UL
UC
USF

9 schools with 6 strong hoops schools. Hopefully we could grab some of the better BE hoops schools like Nova, Georgetown, St Johns, and ND for non-fb. 13 schools.

Add the following if you can get them:
UCF - Loads of potential and partner for USF
BYU - even if football only and if they kept their espn deal. Their ability to help qualify for AQ would help immensely. Also a full membership with them in the TV deal would be a great pull for the new merger.
Boise- Hopefully their hoops improves but we need BCS AQ and grabbing them helps get us that.

So we have:

West:
Baylor
TCU
BYU
Boise
KU
KSU

East:
Mizzou
ISU
Louisville
Cincinnati
USF
UCF

Now we get into the "What if?" scenarios...

What if UT went indy and used this league as a non-football home and scheduling aid in non-fb. Add Texas Tech as a full member and Hawaii for football only to the ranks. Texas as all but football.

What if the ACC stayed at 14? Add Rutgers and UConn too.

So you add 2 in each direction. If only one of the pairs was available you simply move either KU/KSU or ISU/MU across divisions. If the North 4 were split up they can be permanent rivals with each other.

That is probably the best case setup for a leftover league.

Also would like to have UH and SMU but it really depends on what tv partners and BCS gurus claim would be the most beneficial as to whether it happens.

Honestly, I don't see why we need to be so desperate to evacuate the big 12. Even if ou leaves, we have an 8 team conference with 7 conference games and 5 non-conference games. We win the conference nearly every year, and hopefully continue to play ou every year, plus room for a couple of other big non-conference games every year. We have more variety in our schedule from year to year, maintain our rivalries, and have a strong schedule to contend for a national championship. I really believe this big 12 falling apart panic & any perceived danger to Texas is way overblown. We're TEXAS.

What a ridiculous thread.

re: attendance, TCU's attendance to enrollment ratio is #2 in the country behind Notre Dame and attendance would obviously vastly improve if they got to play good teams and regional teams regularly.

I repeat. Save the conference invite TCU!

Save the traditions!

Do it for the fan experience. The ones who like to travel to away games and give you free marketing as our caravans travel the through Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas.

This will not happen when away games are in Washington State and California.

This new generation posting here must have never experienced an away game unless it can be played on your Ipad. That isn’t how you are supposed to experienve college football! You are supposed to get outside, smell the BBQ. Show them what Texas BBQ is all about.

Oh well guess the $money$ finally killed the traditions. Get ready for the NFL Minor leagues. That is where we are heading now.
