Taylor Teagarden in a Rangers uniform

I was just coming over to post the same thing. I live in MN and will be representing our Rangers tomorrow night at the Dome. I will try and take pics and post them here if Tea gets the start again tomorrow.

Wow. THis really is breaking news. I thought this was some joke thread or something. But it is great PR for the Rangers to have an Olympian on their squad for a little while.

yeah that is the general consensus...the deadline for joining the Olympic team is Tuesday...and Salty should be back by then...so Teagarden will get sent back down and then go to Beijing...

yeah just read the DMN blog. Only gonna be up for a couple games while salty is sick

Still really odd though. Why wouldn't you just start Max

You have to wonder if we're maybe trying to showcase him for a trade. Hopefully he has a great game tonight. This will certainly make the game tonight much more interesting.

Maybe not showcasing him for a trade so much as ensuring themselves what they have at catcher so they can trade SOMEBODY.

You gotta admit though - he didn't call any worse of a game than any of the other 3 catchers that Millwood's had this year.

where was everyone bashing the hell out of him when he threw the ball into center?

i guess youll only do that to Salty?

Sorry, it just annoys me how people treat Salty on boards

Taylor showed last night that he isnt ready for ML pitching in any way...hell he aint ready for AAA pitching at this point

I just ask that people would judge them as rangers first and foremost at this point

i thought he did a good job behind the plate though, although i did laugh when the ball drilled the ump in the 1st inning when TT flat out missed the ball somehow.....and then the ump called it a strike...heh

I definitely agree that he's not ready for the Majors offensively. He's had some mechanical issues in his load this year that is causing him to be behind a lot of fastballs that he should be hitting -- balls that he hit last year. He swings through a whole hell of a lot of pitches right now.

But he'll get it fixed. I think he'll be a full time Major Leaguer (maybe not a full-time starter, but he'll at least be up for good) by the start of next year.

Congrats to Taylor on his efforts today! Now, it's time to go to Beijing.

Seriously, I see what someone was saying about that mechanical flaw is his swing. He doesn't even come close to hitting about 90% of the fastballs he swings at. But, as he showed today, when he can make contact, he can do some damage. Hopefully, he'll work on those mechanics the rest of the year in the minors.

He's definitely an above average catcher behind the plate.
