Just got back. We drove. Left Wed. after work, ate dinner at Perini's Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap. Got to Clovis, NM around 2am Wed. night. Woke up around 8am, left for Taos. Got there a little after noon.
We stayed in Taos proper which is a 30min drive to the Taos Ski Resort. We stayed at El Monte Sagrado which was a super nice resort. The rooms were very very nice. Not free but my wife had a special from expedia (no cancellation,...). My wife got the massage one day and a facial the next. We skiied on Thursday and it was great. My wife is not that great so we stuck to greens but they had some challenging greens that might be blues at other places. Had lunch at St. Bernards which is pretty cool. Had a beer after skiing there also. Cool atmosphere.
We ate at the hotel for dinner one night and Ogilvie's in the square another day. I make better chili than Ogilievies.
I went on the weekend of the 10th, for a thurs-sunday trip. The snow was great, and a lot of it. It was not crowded at all either, and no problems with anything. We stayed at the Salsa de Salto B&B (closer to the ski slope than it is to taos) for a good price. They breakfast was great (owner cooked it himself each morning when you came down) and they had hot appetizers when you got done with skiing (fajitas and stew for the 2 nights we were there) which were good as well. Owners were nice as well.....
We did eat at the German place on the slope, it was fairly good and just as expensive as the cafeteria (go figure) and had some good german beer.
