Tailgate w/ ESPN Gameplan Question

While looking at literature on DishNetwork and DirectTV, it says you are required to have a landbased line connected when watching the ESPN Gameplan package.

I would call the providers, but thought I'd try here first since Customer Service sucks with providers these days. Do any of you know if there is a way around this?

Thanks

We have used Gameplan on Directv at our tailgates for years without an issue. Just probably need to have that receiver connected most of the time.

Not true. You can preorder the package. Take a reciever from the account with gameplan. Set up a dish, the reciever and TV, and your in business. We've done it at our tailgate for three seasons now. We've never needed a land based line.

I have Directv and I don't think you need to have a phone line hooked up for any service other than PPV movies/events. It is also how they send updates to the receivers, but I've had a few of my recievers unpluged from the phone lines for over a year and I still get all the sports packages just fine.

I have had Dish for several years, and I have never had a phone line connected to my receiver. You can order PPV movies and sports over the phone, you just can't order them by remote without a phone line attached.

No big deal.

We used DirectTV for 1 year and switched to Dishnet about 4 years ago. Never had a problem with getting game plan and using it at our tailgate with either...though memory fails if we actually had game plan on Direct TV. However the guys next to us last year were using Direct and seemed happy with it. No big deal. The only difference was getting line of sight for the antennas. Dishnet uses 203 degrees and seems like Direct was in the 160 s for our neighbors.

I believe the rub is that you have to have a phone line to order pay per view but if you order GamePlan ahead of time you should be fine.
