Sweet 16 results

Of the top 4 national seeds, I felt South Carolina was the worst shooting team, and the one that most often encounters some scoring droughts. Really had been hoping we'd be in a Regional with them for that reason alone.

We SHOULD have been in that regional. We deserved a higher #2 seed period. I had said South Carolina was vulnerable and it came to fruition. Oh well, we play on tomorrow.

#4 Stanford 50 #1 Norte Dame 39 at the half.
#7 Tenn 43 #3 Ohio State 35 at the half.

Wonder if the underdogs can hang on? Tenn and Stanford playing much more composed than when we beat them.

#1 seed Notre Dame going down and it looks like #7 Tennessee will send #3 Ohio State home. All lower seeds winning tonight? What the what?

Going into tonight, we had 3 non-conference wins over teams in the Sweet 16. Now, two of our wins are over teams who have advanced to the Elite 8. I hope Mississippi State can make it three . . .

Although we didn't play them, I hope FSU makes it four

Upsets are good for the women's game but I sure wish it was UConn and Baylor out rather than SC and ND.

Wishing everyone will upset except us :hookem:

If you live for the upset, this is one of the greatest nights in the history of the women's tournament. Nothing can beat Louisville over Baylor, but this night is up there.

If you had asked me two days ago I would have said Florida State-Baylor would be the best of the Sweet 16 matchups, potentially the only great game of the bunch. Now look what's happened - that must mean the FSU-BU contest is going to be a blowout. Crazy results yesterday!

It's been a long time since I've seen Notre Dame look so inept on defense. Stanford, who really should have lost to South Dakota State last Monday night, played as well as I've seen them play in a very long time.

Speaking of SDSU, I found it very odd that had they advanced to the Sweet 16 by beating Stanford, they'd be headed to the Lexington regional instead of the Sioux Falls, SD regional. Granted, they were a 12 seed, but you would think the committee would be smart enough to place them in the Sioux Falls regional. It made me think that committee made a last minute switch and just lifted their original Sioux Falls bracket (where ND was thought to be going) and just swapped it as whole with the Lexington regional.

Stanford vs UW should be an interesting game, they split their two games this year in the PAC12. I wonder if Stanford will have enough time to recover - Vanderveer only played 8 players: 4 of the Cardinal starters recorded 37+ minutes in the win against ND.

Jordan Hosey's Manvel teammate and ACC player of the year Brianna Turner looked completely out of sorts in the first half (0 points). Turned it on in the second, finishing the game with 16 pts and 10 rebounds but just not enough.

Wow! UConn stifling Miss. State. 19-2 with just under 3 to go in the first. Kinda makes you wonder if MSU will hit double figures by the half.

Stewart with a double double (16 pts, 11 rebs) with 4 minutes left in the second quarter. Also has two blocks, so a possible triple double for her if MSU keeps driving inside. Miss State has had a few good plays but otherwise has been totally disrupted by the UConn D.

MSU looks like they are done. Not running back on defense after a TO, giving UConn a four on one break. You got to be able to play full out all game long against UConn. Cuz that is what they do.

61-12 at the half. Don't think there is an upset here. MSU just barely made double digits at the half. Their big, McCowan, has four fouls. Stewart (18 pts) and Tuck (19 pts) have more pts individually than MSU as a team. Just wow.

I know we gotta get past UCLA, but I am excited/scared about a possible Texas/UConn matchup.

They scare me i say when we beat UCLA i hope uconn gets lost to the arena, but its march and anything is possible.

Teams get demoralized in this situation, but I'm sure Vick will have a few words at halftime (not that they have a prayer) about playing for pride.

As good as all the upsets were for women's basketball last night, I'm of the opinion that it's not good for the casual observer to flip over and see a 61-12 halftime score in a Sweet Sixteen game. I'm glad parity is becoming more & more the norm. I'll be rooting for Syracuse to make the FF out of the bunch on their side that could make it just to have a new face.

Edit: to make championship game out of them, Stanford, Tennessee or Washington.
