Surgery Monday

I have surgery Monday afternoon - scope job on left knee. MRI showed a cyst and potential torn meniscus. It should be routine. But I appreciate the prayer support.

Thanks, Bell. I did the other knee last year, and the results were marvelous. Tell your hubby it's well worth it, and good luck to him.

Prayers for both.
I need some help on my knees, they snap crackle and pop a lot, especially when I jump around during game. but I shuddered when the Dr mentioned takeing a scope and taking a look inside soooooo I have done nothing so far.

Once again prayers and have a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the prayer support, folks. I'm back home now - surgery went very well. Doc found a cyst and a jagged tear in the meniscus, and cleaned up both with no problems. I'm still a bit woozy; topical anesthetic in the knee is still effective. Once it wears off, I suspect I'll spend most of the evening taking pain pills.

Any of you who are putting off getting your knees looked at, don't delay. The right knee (one I had scoped last year) is 100% better and pain-free; I suspect the left will do equally well. Doc says I can likely play golf with my regular group next Friday!

Thanks, All. As expected, once the topical anesthetic wore off, the pain became clear, and I had to start taking my pain pills. Slept about five hours last night, then got up to take another pill. Waiting for it to take effect now, then I'll try to get back to sleep.
But all in all, it's going pretty easily. I can walk on it already, although crutches help if I'm going any further than the bathroom. Hopefully back to the office on Thursday.

HHD,

Prayers for a speedy recovery. Also be sure to take the docusate calcium or docusate sodium if they prescribed it. A few days on painkillers can block you up like nobody's business!

Hope for a speedy recovery...

I am another one who is putting off a scope..They can't see anything but think it is a tear in the meniscus.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Up and around today, not much problem on the crutches. Still on the Darvocet for pain, but getting better.

PacSer, don't put it off. I'm amazed at the technology of the arthroscopic surgery. This must be one of the easiest surgeries known. If this recovery goes as well as it did last year on the other knee, I'll be back to normal activities (my workout routine consists of aerobic training by walking/jogging and strength training on my Bowflex) within a month - and without the limitations of the knee pain.

UPDATE - saw the doc today to get the stitches pulled. Everything looked great. I'm walking without crutches. Start my knee rehab exercises today. No running for three weeks; weight room okay for upper body work.

Glad I got it done - I can actually flex my knee now and not hear it!

Thanks to all for prayers and support.

Rehab is a sinch brother. Sorry I missed the original request. I may start getting my knees scoped every other year to avoid the rush.

UPDATE - Saw the surgeon for follow-up last Monday. I'm cleared unrestricted!!! Already been out jogging and I've returned to the weight room. The arthroscope is a marvelous invention - any of you who have been putting off getting your knee scoped, don't delay - go for it! It was very easy and recovery has been very quick.

Thanks to all at Hornfans for prayer support.

Great news on the healing.

Just a thought....but if you go to the UT/Nebraska game this weekend, please be careful not to blow your knee out jumping around during the game.
