"I want to help the kids," Lambert told ESPN. "I want to reward them for what they do, and I want a better product on the field, too. I want to improve the reputation of the school and the team I love so much. I think it's a cool opportunity to get involved and make a difference."
The hardcore Hurricanes fan and owner of American Top Team said it was the largest deal his business has ever made but has already stated that he's not sure he'll offer players the same deal in the future. Instead, he has a different plan.
He has started the corporation Bring Back The U in an effort to continue to help pay Miami football players. His attorney, Darren Heitner, was hired to make sure Lambert is not violating any laws as he continues his efforts to support the team financially.
Sounds to me as if whoever Mr. Jones is for Texas better start acting like Mr. Jones. Money is all that matters. There are some who grew up with orange blood, but this is about money above the table and we don't have to pretend we're better than SEC schools anymore. We can match them without recourse.
Can't we?

It's an arms race. No longer will facilities be the determining factor in getting a recruits commitment but rather how much $$ can a school funnel directly into the pockets of star players. Wealthy alumni that want to be close to the program can now forgo even engaging with the Athletic Department.
How long until HS athletes start clamoring for endorsements?

Oh, I would disagree 100%. Too much $ involved not to win this race, and we are the biggest dog among Universities when it comes to current revenues. The legal landscape will once for all show how serious the University is about football. It is important, but it has been a question in my mind if the school is really willing to do whatever it takes to be a perennial top 5 program. Before there was the issue of ethics that was a legitimate reason not to do "whatever". But now that cover has been removed. Will Texas out compete these others schools or not?
So far, I would say not so much.

Let the games begin. Embrace the horror.
If there is one thing those (our?) bastardis like, it's money. They have teams of people calling for donations. Helps them build their little empire of liberal horse shite.I have learned over my days as a fan to believe it when I see it. I simply don't believe projections at this point. UT is losing ground already. They can make that up, but I don't see evidence.
They are adults. They will want the freedoms that adult enjoy. If you're a superstar, then you get paid. It's that simple.
Based upon the recruiting, I'd say Texas was not fully amped up for this. If they have the money and the branding, then they should have a line of great players outside their door.
I hope you're wrong, but fear you're correct. This is going to turn into something like the USFL.If last year didn't kill college football for me, this will. And I was as big a fan / supporter as you'd find, for a very long time.
As for BMDs, yes some will embrace this. But most will tire of what's about to take place. Ten Years from now CFB will be a joke, tv ratings wise. The turn off factor will be serious on every level

Or Texas will take advantage of this opportunity to put its (supposedly) huge resources to use to build an elite football program. Players receiving money while in college will mean more will stay in college a year or two longer.
There are now "legal" ways of paying players. This Texas' chance to compete with LSU, OSU, and Alabama for elite talent while not compromising ethics.

"Our quarterback has already approached ungodly numbers, and he hasn’t even played yet," Saban said at the Texas High School Coaches Association convention on Tuesday, 247Sports reported.
"If I told you what it is … it’s almost seven figures,” he added.
