Summitt is a Witch

That is the only way to explain the magic she works in the last few seconds of every friggin game!!!!!! She really is amazing the way she pulls a rabbit out of the hat when she needs it most.

BUT I am sooooo happy UConn is out. Go Stanford!!!!

Defensive breakdown in the last 9 seconds by LSU. No pressure, no boxing out, no defense. Game over

Actually it was a complete switch up from what was played all night. Well called by Summitt and caught LSU off guard. LSU should have never called a time out after the free throws. It gave Tenn a chance to set up the play.

I want Stanford to win just so Parker can eat her statement: "Anything less than a national title is failure."

Parker is a bit cocky but she's got the hops and skill to back it up so she can say whatever she pleases.

I'd prefer to say Summitt is a magician.

The game could have gone either way last night. Neither team looked very good. Stanford has to feel good about their chances especially with Parker banged up. Auguste was the one who really stepped it up last night. I haven't seen her play as well in a game before. Smart call by Summitt---using Parker as a decoy.

I totally agree with your last statement, TXtoCO. Young women do go to Tennessee to have a chance at a title.

Auguste was great in last year's championship game against Rutgers.

Pat Summitt is so competitive; she definitely knows how to motivate her teams and get them to perform when it counts the most.

On the other hand, I thought Stanford had a marvelous first four rounds, and would benefit from having played UConn earlier in the season. They already beat Tennessee once this year, and I'll be rooting for them on Tuesday night.

Yep, you have to admire Pat for staying at the top year after year -- I was sort of hoping for LSU because I like Van Chancellor. It was good to see Travis Mays on the sidelines, too.

Struck me from the commentary that Sylvia Fowles had a similar problem to Tiffany -- she was the only offensive weapon and the defense could mob her on every possession. Will be watching LSU to see how they do next year.

SOOOO glad that it didn't come down to UCONN and TN this year -- Stanford seems to run a clean program with a classy coach that features student athletes . . . I will forever thank Coach Vanderveer (sp?) for sending us Jamie Carey.

Why do I have an issue with that statement?

Well, for starters it's arrogant...but I can get over that.

I just happen to think that being an athlete...that competition at this level... that representing a university in any program is more than just about one game. It's about the process...the intangibles... the growth... the learning... the wins and the losses. If you want to define success of an entire team, season and program on one game then life is gonna serve you up a lot of lemons.

But that is just a personal opinion as was my statement about her eating those words. I prefer the deameaner and personality of someone like Candice Wiggins and - if Geno doesn't ruin her - Maya Moore, both of whom seem to be a bit more humble in their pursuit of greatness.

From where I sit, our team didn't win the title but the season was far from failure. From where a Tennesee fan sits, the view is obviously different. I am not a Tennesee fan for a reason. However, I have a great deal of respect for Summitt's record - I mean 7 national titles - wow. I just didn't realize that the other 26 seasons she coached were failures.

When Texas WBB players begin to make statements like that, I will happily give up my season seats at the FEC and head over to the soccer field, volleyball court, tennis complex etc. and see what those women are up to....

Black Ninja, couldn't have said it better myself.

Kids go to programs that are successful. They believe and desire to be part of the continued success and winning tradition. They go there believing that they'll be the NCAA champions, or at least have a great chance of such. I agree Parker's statement is strong, but I think it shows that the team is really focused on what their goal is each and every time they take the floor.

1st Congrats to Tenn for winning to close games and based on the results they deserve to be in the championship game.

IMHO like last year Tenn is living a charmed life. Who would ever suspect that both Texas A&M and LSU would score 2 points in 8 minutes. Additionally Tenn didn't do much better. It wasn't that Tenn's defense was so great in these 8 minutes both Texas A&M and LSU missed wide open shots. It just seemed like both teams couldn't handle the pressure of being in the Regional Finals or the Semi Finals. There was no excuse for LSU as they've been to the Final Four 5 straight times.

IF Tenn had played Rutgers or Stanford instead of Texas A&M and played the same game, you would anticipate they would have loss. and never made it to the Final Four.

You could say the same if they played Stanford instead of LSU on Sunday night. I'm not sure about UConn as they played poorly and the results might have been the same.

With that said Tenn beat the teams they were scheduled to play and deserve to be in the Final Game. As a UConn fan I wish they weren't

If (when) we win it all and we return all the players I would imagine that they might say something like: We plan to win it again and will leave it all on the floor - no regrets.... or a hundred other statements that say we are here to win. From where I stand those types of statements are different than "If we don't win, we're failures." But, whatever. It just a difference of opinion and I hope Candace chokes on those words just like UConn did. I prefer a program whose leader talks about a process and learning and building a foundation of excellence rather than a leader who says "were going to be better next year so if you couldn't beat us this year what makes you think you'll beat us next year". And I doubt our leader's statements will change drastically after we have our second title or even our seventh.

And if (not when) we become that arrogant, I'll lose interest. No big deal. We just seem to be looking for two different results from the same program. Given the choice, regardless of who wins the Title, I would take a Candice over a Candace any day. And I am pretty sure I am not the cheese on this one...

Go Stanford. Beat Tennessee.

IMHO, Anosike's tears said it all. It wasn't about a superstar blowing hard about how great she or her team was. It was about the superstar stating how the team made a commitment TO EACH OTHER as sisters that they would not be denied. Truth be told I don't recall a defending national champion getting so little respect.

Congrats TN!!

Let's just put the shoe on the other foot. If JC had those same stats as Coach Summit we would be singing another song. Coach Summit and TN are why I started looking at WCBB so they are near and dear to me. Now I'm a Longhorn fan as well. So it's all good. I like TN everyday except the days when my Longhorns play them.

CP3 was on a mission and she said what she meant and meant what she said. Last night's victory proves it.

Now what am I suppose to do with my spare time since WCBB season is over?!?!

Summitt has done more for the game of WCBB than any other figure in the sport, IMO. She went anywhere and played anyone to gain exposure for the sport and I respect and admire that. She has been an incredible ambassador for the sport and I cannot help but pull for them when they play anyone other than Texas.
