Stomping on the W? (and other thoughts)

I wish espn hadn't shown that. I thought it was rather embarassing. Not the a Texas team should act. I hope RB puts a quick stop to it.

It was a great game and a great win, the stuff at the end was disappointing and I m sure Barnes will tell them that crap isnt acceptable, who cares if the cheeseheads did it last year, win and show the class they didnt dont sink to their level.

Well, I did not like to see it. But, in the Statesman this morning, was pointed out that Barnes pretty much told them before the game that last year Wisconsin slammed them around and stomped them, and that they have to turn that around this time.

Horns badly out-rebounded Wisconsin over the course of this game, and I think the team had built up some resentment at being pushed around just a few days ago by Michigan State (a fellow Big 10) team. So... three straight loses to Mich-State and a loss at home last season to Wisconsin.

It had built up, and they wanted to thump their chest a bit. But it's like being the last one to hit back in a football game. Your swing stands out, gets the penalty and is remembered. I'm thinking Barnes will get flak about this, send an apology to the coach and players at UW and instruct the players to keep their cool from now on.

Turnabout is fair play. Like an earlier poster said, the fact that we've NEVER done anything like that under Barnes should tell you that there was a signicifant reason.

Say do you guys remember Conner yelling at the crowd at the end of the UCLA game at Pauly a couple of years ago? Seems to me that CA grew some hair and started to play with more confidence the rest of the year. The team started to play harder IMO.

Maybe this BIG " W" incident will toughen up the team a little bit.

Was it just me but did it seem to me that during the whole game Texas players hit the floor a lot more then Wisky players did.
Please note that I do not condone such behavior that created this "W" imcident but the DOG and the team need some attitude in their game.....

When I saw those guys stomping on the W I was ashamed to be a UT fan for the first time in my life. I would suspend them for a game and make them send apologies to the papers.. That is some classless BS, I don't root for the cowboys because they signed that jerk T.O. (Stomping on the Star) I hope coach Barnes will put an ened to that crap.

yeah, the suggestion of a one game suspension might be the dumbest thing I've read on here in a long time, and that's saying a lot.

IMO, it would be, "write a letter" unacceptable, or "run some 5 a.m conditioning" or maaaaaybe "bench him for a few minutes" or all of the above. And I'd have Balbay do whatever he did, since it looked to me like he coached James into it.

But to take a game... that would be like the penalty for getting into a fight. No way I think those are comparable.

I'd rather my team not do that, but I can't get too worked up about it one way or another. And that goes for another team beating us in our house and stomping on the horns. don't want to see it then don't lose.

Some are seriously overreacting imo.

For those that seemingly didn't read it the first time:

Just to (hopefully) put the subject to rest, there was no deliberate "stomping" on the logo. Dogus was telling Damion to "stomp the roach," which is some stupid dance the team is currently obsessed with. It was a total accident that it happened to be on the W logo.
