Me saying anything isn't going to curse Houston teams more than they already are. Hate to break it to you. We've had little to cheer about for the last 15 years besides the world series appearance where we were swept.
Not really sure myself. Duncan looks really young in that photo. That might have been from 1999 when the Spurs won it all in the labor shortened 98-99 *asterisk* season. Duncan was a second year pro that year.
You have some comical contributions to this thread. There was no asterisk in '99 and whipping out that tired attempt to degrade the '99 championship says a heck of a lot about you and your motivations here. Spurs went 15-2 in the playoffs, one of the more dominant runs in history.
As for this season, you have a real juvenile approach to the Spurs chances int he playoffs. Records are meaningless in April/May. The difference between the top 4 teams in the West is miniscule at best. So a 2nd round loss to say OKC, wouldn't be a huge upset regardless of how much emphasis you want to place on records to prove your silly point. Hate all you want, but the fact is the Spurs can beat anybody in the West and lose to anybody in the West. Frankly, few Spurs fans have suggested otherwise despite the gaudy record. If the Lakers are healthy and motivated, I'm not sure the Spurs get past them... same with the Mavs and Thunder. But the same could be said for each of those teams against SA.
No harm, just trying to stir the pot a little because I know most people on this board are spurs fans. I for one am not. Living in TX, I just get sick and tired of hearing how great the spurs are. Yes, they are a damn good team this year. I just think fatigue will catch up with them come playoff time. That is all.
You may be right, TEASIP. Fatigue and age may catchh up to them. Or they may just be at about equal to the other top teams in the West, LA and Dallas and maybe OKC. They've just played a little better and consistent than the others up to this point, thus the record.
I certainly don't expect everyone to like the Spurs... in fact, I would expect there to be haters since they have been a contender for more than a decade now, year in and year out. Success breeds interest but also breeds contempt. Comes with the territory. Have fun.
I don't want to draw enjoyment from the failure of others (and, frankly, it's disingenuous to argue that Malone's career was a failure), but it did not disappoint me that his move to LA for a cheap championship was a resounding failure.
Kenny Smith from TNT seems to disagree with you. He kept saying last night during halftime that the team looks slow and on it's last stand like Ali at the end of his career.
According to this they are the 7th oldest team in the league. They also show another graphic right next to it showing the avg age based on minutes played by players. It shows the bulk of the minutes are being played by the older players.
Never mentioned anything about the other teams. We were talking spurs and their age. If you consider Manu somewhat old, then parker is old and not in his prime anymore. This is Parkers 10th year in the league and Manu's 9th year in the league.
BTW, I wouldn't put Orlando in rich company, they're about to lose their series to the Hawks. Down 3 games to 1. Denver isn't really good either. OKC will soon put them out of their misery. OKC should have many good years ahead of them based on their avg age. They are fun to watch.
