spiciest dish in austin?

one of the Antonio's is on jollyville. i've been going to the one at 183 and I-35. i've had the habanero enchiladas there 7 or 8 times now, and while they are quite tasty, they are not very spicy.

i'm still planning to try the 25-wing deal at pluckers so i can get my ugly mug on the wall. though i don't think i've eaten 25 wings total in my life.

eating raw habaneros is a challenge. drinking water or beer when you do it only makes it burn worse. capsaicin is like oil -- water doesn't wash it away, it only spreads it, so more of your mouth is on fire. the only way to wash it out of your mouth is to drink milk or half&half.

speaking of habaneros, i recommend the habaneros salsa at Habanero restaurant on Oltorf (only open for lunch). you have to request it or they'll give you the regular salsa. it has some nice bite.

and as i learned the hard way, when you're chopping up habaneros to make salsa, etc., make sure you wash your hands 4 or 5 times before you take a pee. i still have scars.

i tried the p16 at madam mam's today for the first time.

its really hot. i thought i was hallucinating after a while and my friend said he was getting dizzy. and we both like really hot food. we split that and a "3 pepper hot" (on a 0 to 5 pepper scale) beef dish and the beef was plenty hot and much more flavorful, while the catfish, in addition to being overcooked, was overpowered by the heat.

but it is hot. anyone who says it isnt is crazy.
