Speculations for Next Year

This article from Slam magazine is their list of 2018 All Americans. The list includes Charli Collier (Texas), Christyn Williams (UConn), Aquira DeCosta (BU), Destanni Henderson (S.Carolina) and NaLyssa Smith (BU).

IMO, I won't be surprised if Queen Egbo has a better career at Baylor than Smith. I also believe that Sedona Prince is sometimes overlooked and underestimated. Time will tell....

Queen certainly looked better in the HS AA games, imo. I fully expect Sedona to start her last three years and make a strong push for AA honors during her time at UT. We are lucky to have both her and Charlie.

I can’t wait for the season to start, Danni looks good in burnt orange. I think she’s going to fill the void from Ariel very well. IMO Texas got the best transfer on the market this year. I’m sure Coach Aston will sit down with her and look at film of her at a&m to get a better idea of what plays to run with her. And also what spots on the floor she likes to get the ball and score from.

Not to mention it will help LaShann defensively against taller wing players and in grabbing rebs. That is one area where our guards will need to step up. Ariel (5.5 rpg) and Brooke (4.5 rpg) combined to grab just under a quarter of the team's 43 rpg.

I had forgotten that Coach Aston was on the USA committee with Jeff Walz as he is one of the coaches. He would be a great coach to get ideas from in terms of playing and changing different defenses during a game and also playing different offense.

This is photo is for you @kurupt . Coach Aston is sitting right beside to Jeff Walz. Sedona Prince is on the top row.

Just thinking out loud; here is a roster breakdown by experience:

- 2 returning starters in seniors, Jatarie White and Lashann Higgs

- 1 player who started most games as a freshman, but only a few as a sophomore in junior, Joyner Holmes, and is projected to be a starter once again

- 1 player who has played the most of any non-starter in junior, Alecia Sutton, and is a sure-starter at PG

- 6 brand new players to the program: 5 true freshmen and 1 fourth-year graduate transfer who is a likely starter

- 2 seniors who add good depth, but not expected to be starters in Olamide Aborowa and Jordan Hosey

- 2 sophomore guards who did not see much playing time as freshmen in Chasity Patterson and Destiny Littleton

- 1 junior wing in Jada Underwood who has played limited minutes her first two seasons at Texas
