South Carolina

So I'm just now getting around to really checking this thing out, those guys touched up Hansen a little bit, more than any other team so far. Surprising, that has to factor into the games going forward, if they touch our number one, how are they going to do with our number 2? Have to keep up the offense on our end for sure.

So it is abundantly clear that Ivan is making himself some money this year. He is more than solid at first base both moving to field his position and adjusting to throws that are a little or even a lot low or high, and if anything his hitting is improved over what was a great year last year.

Great outcome. We were 4 runs better than South Carolina on their home turf today! Keep it up Horns. 2 big games tomorrow.

How bout that wind! Like playing in a tropical storm warning or something…

In my opinion, there's not really a dropoff from our #1 guy to our #2 guy. No disrespect to Hansen, but Stevens is also a terrific pitcher. We're so fortunate to have him back this year. But yes, we'll definitely need keep the bats going.

SC’s coach indicated that he’ll probably go with Sanders for the 7 inning game. I would think we’ll pitch Stevens against Sanders and let Gordon take on whatever second or third tier starter they go with for the 9 inning game of the double header (probably Gilreath—who earns his keep pitching on the inside of the plate).

We still could get that pitchers’ dual if it’s Stevens vs Sanders. Although both clubs had hot bats today. :fire::fire::fire:

My take on Hansen was that while he wasn't particularly sharp, lot of the hits were seeing eye, bloopish hits. He also didn't get his usual lights out defense behind him either.

Not so much bloops as wind playing a role in a couple of hits and beyond that Hansen was due for game like that, he can’t throw shut outs every week.

Translation:

The 7 inning game will be tight until the 6th or 7th inning. At which point, there will be a 3 run blast and much rejoicing. Some beers will be consumed. And OU sucks.

Well, Sanders really showed up. Only 2 runs surrendered with one inning to go. Over 100 pitches.
