The rebate works for me. The rich would just hoard their money by saving or investing. We'll get the real economic kick from the poor folks, who'll use their rebates to buy spinning rims and belly chains.

Sorry, but I have to chime in here too. First, this whole stimulus plan is ******* stupid. It is a drop in the bucket that is the vast sea of the economy. It is all show for ignorant Wall Street types who seem to react to this type of nonsense.

Second, how in the hell can you give a rebate to someone who doesn't pay taxes in the first place? Answer? You can't. It isn't a rebate. It is welfare. Free ******* money.

The net effect of this nonsense is that the people who make too much to qualify bear an even higher percentage of incoming taxes than before. The portion of the population who bears the most burden in our tax system gets the screw. Do I need it? No. But this was being sold as a "stimulus." Not as some need based program. I don't "need" $600, so I probably would spend it on some consumer goods or towards a home improvement project. This would have achieved the purpose behind the stimulus.

Rather than just writing checks why doesn't the government at least use that money towards repairing the aging infrastructure in the country? By putting the money towards repair and construction projects, it would have still stimulated the economy and likely created new jobs along with providing a desperately needed facelift.

But nah, we would rather give people that dont pay taxes some fictional tax rebate rather than create a job so they can earn enough to pay taxes themselves. Congress is a pack of retards right along with our "conservative" president.
