so tonight...

as believed here shooting would reverse in 2nd half - by both teams - good guys 55-45%. great 2nd half.

don't know what they're going to do about ft's, but something is desparately needed. once again we have nobody make all this ft's tonight, though big Dex led the way with 4-5.

Hook'em!!!

And, Pitman is so slow, both on defense and getting the ball from waist to above his head.... he is now a 12 minute per game guy for most of the rest of the season.

Texas finally played a game like they had played earlier in the season. Outrebounding Tech 46-27.

Tech kept it close by shooting 9/18 from 3 and 12/15 from the line. Had they not shot so well from outside I think they lose by 20 or more.

Dex had his minutes cut which wasn't a bit suprise with Tech's size. However the big suprise for me was the reemergence of Mason. I had all but written him off due to his lack of scoring. 8/12 tonight and finishes with 18. He was only 1/6 from the line and that needs to improve though.

Did it seem odd to anyone else that Tech inexplicably stopped shooting 3s in the second half when they had been dominating from beyond the arc in the first?

Defense stepped it up in the second half.

Tech is a different animal - the motion offense is tough to defend and sometimes they make you look pretty bad on defense. I don't think we expected them to shoot that many threes in the first - usually they don't.

I would imagine Dex didn't play much largely because he just isn't equipped to defend a motion offense for very long - you really have to have quicker guys out there on defense.

Pittman averages only 19.6 minutes a game. Playing 18 last night wasn't that big a drop, though one could factor in how Pittman is often shorted time due to foul trouble, but wasnn't last night.

I wonder if part of the idea was to keep him fresh for Baylor. Pittman has had his worst games this year after going 20+ minutes the previous game or on short rest. For example:

1 rebound against Pittsburgh the day after playing 22 minutes against Iowa,

4 pts, 1 rebound, 4 fouls in 12 minutes against MSU after going 26 minutes against UNC,

4 pts, 1 rebound, 3 to in 12 minutes against Colorado after going 27 against Arkansas,

a horrible outing against A&M after going 25 against Iowa State.

The KSU game was kind of a trend breaker, as he had a statistically decent performance after going 28 minutes against A&M, but foul trouble is often due to being a little tired, and he picked up 4 in 16 minutes.
