So this is where all the Ranger fans hang out??

TV coverage of the Rangers and Mavericks was my only gripe while living in Austin. I never really gave a thought of hate to the Astros or Spurs before I lived there. But, after seeing that I would be resigned to 90% Astros and Spurs games on FSN, I developed a hatred for the two teams. I am surprised Houston Aeros games weren't televised over Stars games.

After leaving Austin, my hatred has subsided and really could care less about what they do. However, Spurs fans still annoy me.

Rico, here's another one for you...

Situation:

Bottom 9, 1 out, Rangers up 6-5, CJ pitching
Wild pitch puts runners on 2nd & 3rd with Mauer batting & Morneau on deck (both lefties).
Why the **** do you not walk Mauer here to set up the DP and/or force at home?! Mauer's run means abso-*******-lutely nothing in this situation; the runner on 2nd is ballgame!
Of course, Washington doesn't do what every other ML manager would do here & Mauer promptly singles home the tying run, moving the winning run to 3rd.
Morneau then grounds to Vazquez who throws to Salty who has to make the tag.
Now, if we would have walked Mauer to load the bases & Morneau hits that exact same grounder, we have a decent shot at a 5-2-3 DP because Salty wouldn't have had to tag the runner.

Washington ******* kills me as an in-game manager sometimes!! There is no logical reason to pitch to Mauer in that situation (who is hitting .362 vs LHP this season BTW)...

i didn't know that was the situation. that is fawking awful. i'm trying to come up with all reasons why you would pitch to mauer there and can't come up with anything. if you are trying to pitch around him to see if he tries to do something stupid then maybe but why not take your chances with JM.

my problem is that sometimes on the road you need to make the call that we are going to win or lose this game right now. if we go extras fine but we are going to be aggressive and go for it.

mauer, btw, is a stud.

It seems that some people are insinuating that I'm complaining about Astros coverage outdoing Rangers coverage here in Austin. I could care less about what game is where, as long as the Rangers are on. And the whole aggy thing makes absolutely no sense to me. In fact, the person who's accusing us of acting like aggy is in fact the one that is acting like aggy, by being jealous of a thread about Rangers baseball. And pitching to Mauer not only cost the Rangers the game, but that loss could very well end up snowballing into a REALLY BAD road trip, as they got the **** kicked out of them tonight. If they win last nights game, they've a ton of momentum heading into the rest of this road trip....now they're on a two game losing streak, and it ain't lookin' good. I will say that the Rangers Ballpark kicks the **** out of the Astros Ballpark, hands down. Minute Made park is as aggy as it gets!!

i don't get why people are griping about the rangers coverage in austin. ever since 2004 at LEAST we've gotten most of the rangers games televised, either on FSN or on channel 77 (if you have time warner).

You gotta love Ponson. Guy has a tremendous attitude not to mention he's slimmed down to 275.

But, what I like the best (which I'm sure is part of his effectiveness) is his quick pace in which he works the game. Proof is the length of tonight's game - 2:25 in a game in which the R's score 10 runs and he goes 9 innings - giving up one run and 6 hits. Outstanding.

Hook'em!!!

My two cents...

I have been a Ranger fan forever and I agree that it was irritating when forced to watch Astros games on FSN while I was at school in Austin. I didn't hate the Astros for it, and I kinda understood why it was that way. The Astros brought professional baseball to Texas and I think that once you get outside of the Dallas area media market (from about Sweetwater to Marshall, down to Waco) the rest of the state more likely favors the Astros, which is understandable. Same reason why the Cowboys are more popular outside of Houston (since they were an actual NFL team, as opposed to an AFL team).
