So I'm getting a vasectomy on Friday

It's no big deal. Shave your own nuts. Don't use Nair. I have a hundred gel packs, but you should buy some or use several packs of frozen peas. Do NOT do anything but watch TV or sleep for at least 24 hours. It is painless and the regimen requires that you, um "discharge" a bunch of times once you are feeling well. You ought to get a note from your doctor that oral sex is the best way to do it.

I had my vasectomy done by Dr. Chopp.
Agree with the above, shave yourself. And if your doc tells you to take it easy for X days (I can't emphasize this point strongly enough) DO IT!!!

I felt pretty decent the 2nd day after and started getting active against orders. Oh, lordy, don't make the same mistake I did. I swear, you will pay like you've never paid before.

I had it done. Walked into the doc's office at 12:45 on a Friday. By 1:45 I was in the drive-up at Mickey D's getting a diet coke.

I completely ignored the docs orders. I actually went for a walk that afternoon.

It was the easiest thing I've ever done. I'm real, real chicken-****. I get lightheaded when getting a flu shot.

It's really no big deal at all. I am happy I did it. Very happy.

Dr. Chopp did mine in '04. No problems. Take it easy. Frozen peas. And definitely get a jock strap to keep the boys in place while recuperating.

Only problem I had was clerical. They won't release you as sterile unless you have 2 consecutive 'negative' results. First one was neg, second was pos (happens some times w/ swimmers stuck way back in the duct work) so you basically start from zero again. next was neg, then the next was neg. but they mistakenly put in a pos. results sheet. I was ticked & called up to find out what my options were until they reviewed their charts, cleared everything, & released me.

Dick Chopp did mine. I choose him so I could tell a funny story. Bad idea, I found him to be kinda rough. Talking arched back on the table from pain rough.

The doc who did mine was late, so I was laying on the table with my feet up in stirrups with my boys hanging out in the breeze chatting with two older nurses. Surreal. Park close to the doctors office where you have it done. I had to walk all the way acroos St David to get to my car and drive myself home. Spent the day watching tv with lots of bagged frozen veggies on the boys. Went back to work the next day.

You made a minor scheduling error, as last weekend would have been optimal with more basketball games one. I picked a solid college football weekend to have mine done.

Send the wife and kids out shopping and seeing movies. Ice down your balls and a 12 pack of beer, remote in hand. Keep pain pills handy...not so much for the pain but they go well with the beer.

I've said it before on here. It was a great weekend in the life of Hulla....hell, I'm thinking about having another one.

ditto on the scheduling error, but this might be the second best weekend of the year to have it done.

Make sure the doc tells your wife that she is a vital cog for the "fluid removal" over the next few weeks. The pain pills are fun, but dispensing with the swimmers is what makes the V a kick *** couple of weeks.

I was nervous about the shot to the balls to numb the pain before hand, so a friend recommended I ask the doctor for a valium. I did and did not feel a thing.

Rent Band of Brothers or Entourage to lay in bed and watch all weekend.

I will say, I did experience levitation. It was a micro second of "white lightnin'" pain. But, it'll make a man outa ya. Or something like that.

Just like having the kids, do your duty.

I found out last week that my apartment complex is right next door to Dick Chopp's office. I walked by a building that said something about The Urology Team and thought "I'm going to look and see if that's Dick Chopp's place" - sure enough there were 4 or 5 doctors listed on the door and he was one of them.

On one of my retests after I had my vasectomy, I called the office to make sure they were still open for me to bring in a sample for testing. The lady at the front desk was a total ***** on every visit I had to that place.

She told me they would be open for 30 more minutes then made some hasty comment. I told her "You can speed up this process if you will talk dirty to me". ***** hung up on me.

Ive been thinking about getting a vascectomy, mainly because Im at an age where I dnt need any more children. One thing I have been curious about. Do men who have had the proceedure done have a lower risk of prostate cancer?
