Smash Williams to TMU

Anyone else hear about this? I thought the dude was headed to Bama and didn't want to play with that prick QB Chip from Larabie?

Obviously, Smash wanted to stay closer to home and make his mom happy, but I didn't think TMU had been recruiting him that hard.

Oh well, I wish him the best. I wonder if he is mature enough to honor the verbal after making a potentially hasty/emotional decision and not keep playing the game with other schools.
 
i also didnt think that tmu was recruiting him that hard. its a good thing they sent that badass coach over to talk to him. who was that guy, i think we need to hire him to our staff.
 
Yes, I was happy to see that. You can write this in 6 inch headlines "Smash is solid at TMU". Big Momma's make sure he stays close to home,,and besides Bama already has a FR RB that had over 500 yds last year.
This commit should pave the way for Swearensen next year.
 
I just hope we haven't closed the door on this guy and can get back in on him if Mack & Major's in-home with D. Scott does not go well. Obviously, Scott appears to be the better back, but you hate to have a player like Williams come back to haunt us after not recruiting him and again banking on a commit from an OOS player who eventually spurns us.

That said, I remain concerned about Smash's immaturity/big mouth and durability.
 
Any word on where Tim Riggins is headed? I know his GPA is probably somewhere between bad and god-awful, but with his pass-catching ability and affinity for cheap women and booze, it would seem he is a lock for the Sand Aggies. I mean, he would have caught a last-second TD on a freakin screen play if he hadn't been Bobby Booshayed by that nutjob coach.
 
I heard Oklahoma Tech was into some shady stuff trying to get Smash; promising to relocate his mom with a job and some cash for Smash. Nice to see him go to a good, clean school in TMU.

2) Ugly-Homely Tech sucks!
3) t-a-m-u at Austin should relocate. Anyone else catch that?
4) I realize his numbers are good but Smash is a bit on the small side to be an every-down back. That kid is gonna get hurt in D1 football the way that TMU plays between the tackles. And his speed doesn't quite put him in that Ramonce specialty back category. It will be interesting what TMU does with him....IF he sticks to his commitment.

6)Is Sarasen a senior? He seems a bit under the radar this year.
 
Not bad to have a state championship on your résumé as a soph, but he needs to get some altitude if he is going to get that D1 scholly. Don't see him as a Flutie type. Definitely benefits from the run game.

Not sure Riggins is worth the grade risk.
 
Obviously, Riggins' personal history and related baggage have to be considered by a coaching staff when trying to decide whether to offer. The dude is clearly a beast, but will academics and past transgressions scare recruiters away? I also expect much of the recruiting process to get funneled through his dumbass derelict brother who will hold programs hostage for gifts of whiskey, whores and cash for himself.

Needless to say, Riggs sounds like the type of risk Mack & Co. might back away from. This kid ends up at OU or Tech, assuming he doesn't get killed by a meth dealer.
 
True. Mack doesn't need that type in his program. Too much baggage. Perfect for ugly-homely. Sure hate to play against him, though, if he lives to his potential.
Anyone else feel he would make a better TE in the spread offense? Or even a solid MLB?

I've got a feeling Riggins is going to find Jesus, turn over a whole new leaf, and wind up at Baylor, where he will have a stellar career.

guys, I just heard a really bad story and I want to know if anybody else heard anything about it.

I have a friend who's little brother works at a movie theater in a town over from Dillon. apparently last night Smash Williams jumped some other high school kid and ****** him up. sent him to the hospital for stiches to his face.

sorry, I don't have a link but I've known the kid who told me for years and he said the way most of the kids described it it sounded like Smash just got out of his seat and went over, got in the guy's face, and then just punched the kid and then ran away. he didn't know if the kid filed a police report, but I bet if he had to go the hospital, we may hear more about it.

is this the kind of kid we want playing for us?
 
I went to see Smash play in person one game. Can't remember who they were playing, but their uniforms sure looked like Westwood's uniforms. He must be a huge prospect because the place looked like a freakin movie set.

Anyway, this kid is an absolute beast on the field.

Everyone else on the field looked like they were running at half speed.



Literally.
 
I think TMU should also take a real close look at Santiago. The kid's only been playing football for a few weeks, and he's clearly a game changer.

I also think Riggins is worth recruiting just to get marquis speed backs to come to the program. Who wouldn't want to run behind that beast. The only issue I see with Riggins is the student and faculty pregnancy rate would increase 10-fold.

The rumors about the fight are true, but the truth about what happened has not come out yet. When it finally does, TMU is going to look very stupid for overreacting to this situation and may not be able to reestablish their relationship with Smash. It might turn out to be Hell for them, because I've already heard, from a reliable source, that OMU will take him as long as he doesn't wind up in jail over the whole deal. Early October at the State Expo could be a dark time for TMU over the next four years.

Uh-oh. Looks like TMU pulled Smash's scholarship as a result of his off-the-field issues.
 
he's going to the traditional black school... bet on it. but, i'm still holding out hope for Oklahoma Tech!
