Sloan: Augustin would have gotten the call

My apologies if this has already been posted.

Sloan spouted the standard Aggie "BOMC" theory after the UCLA game. Specifically mentioned Augustin. Link to the audio is on the left side under Podcasts.

I think it has been shown from time to time that big name players get the benefit of the doubt and Sloan is right about that but I hope that he didn't just name Augustine.

Can anyone argue that Augustine wouldn't have a better chance of getting that call than Sloan?

Why doesn't he just use Collison's name? Did this game have anything to do with Texas? I wish he did get the call so he could have gone to the line, bricked both FTs, and then had the loss on his shoulders.

I'll give Sloan some benefit of the doubt on this one. Technically is probably right; he pretty much played the game of his life after losing his Mom, and then had the opportunity to finish taken from him.

Ummm, this actually happened already and no foul was called.

Do we all have short memories here? Augustine got destroyed on the way to the basket when driving for the game winner at Pauley. He got fouled again as he put up an airball that James slammed home to win the game. I actually think that Collison was trying to intentionally foul him because they were not in the bonus, but nothing was called. At full speed, the no call on Augustine was more egregious than the no call on Aggy.

I don't understand why everyone keeps saying that Sloan had some opportunity taken from him. He had the ball in his hands at the end of the game, and he made a horrendously dumb decision. He had to know he was fighting a losing battle, taking on three Bruins all by himself, yet he did it anyway. He says himself that the call was to kick it out to a shooter unless the lane was open. The lane wasn't open. He blew it, yet he wants to blame it on the refs for not bailing him out. And then he makes matters worse by claiming that if he were DJ Augustin, he would've gotten the call.

No, he's absolutely correct about the refs completely blowing it. He did not need the refs to bail him out, UCLA needed the refs to bail them out by not calling a blatantly obvious foul. And the refs did indeed bail UCLA out.

He's being silly with the Augustin comment, though.

him going up was stupid.

either way, the ref is s'pose to call a foul when a foul occurs. the foul was clear and obvious. the ref did not do his job. i'd piss and moan too if i was an aggy.

and every aggy i know personally agrees that sloan should've passed the ball, but should've gotten the call.

had he got bumped, too bad too sad. but the foul prevented him from even getting the shot out of his hands. you have to call that.

1. Texas never gets the call. Officiating is horrible during UT games.
2. Truer aggy words have never been spoke. Just like all aggy, Sloan hates "t u" more than he likes A&M. I bet many people believe this was a co-conspiracy plot between UT and UCLA.

Why is he crying about Texas? Why does a no talent nobody from a never was basketball program think he should get the same respect as an All American from UT? Come on now, know your place Aggie.

And it was all game, too. Look at this body slam Sloan had to endure in the first half. It's amazing that any of this punishment leveled out by Collison was ever called.

When I first saw this on TexAgs, the A&M poster who started the thread said "he even alludes to the BOMC." That's why I decided to listen to it in the first place. I though "surely after a game like that, the first thing on his mind was not Texas."

After hearing it, I'd say he far more than "alluded" to this supposed BOMC.

So now it's apparently not just the refs who caused them to lose, it was DJ Augustin too. The way Aggies keep whining about this and e-mailing every reporter known to man to see who agrees with them, I'm dying to see who else gets blamed.

I heard that Texas had a mole working in the arena crew last Saturday & that he purposely watered down the floor before Sloan took the ball up court thereby not allowing him to stop for the 15 foot jumper but instead causing him to slide directly into the 3 UCLA defenders.

And don't give me any crap about it having rained all week & the morning of the game...check out the weather radar reports!

Regardless of what he said it should have been a foul and two shots.

What is wrong with a guy driving deep into the lane and trying to draw a foul in the last few seconds of a game ? It happens all of the time and is a good strategy. The refs were gutless by not calling it and none of them should advance in the tournament. If it had happened to us there would be 10 pages of people bitching about it and rightfully so.

It is ******** to say a ref should not call that because it is the last few seconds of the game. A foul is a foul and if you saw the photo in yesterday's AAS there is no question the refs blew it.
