Simms gets playing time

The Bears would be great for Simms? If by great you mean the crappiness of the whole offense will make him look horrible, albiet he'll look slightly better than the spares they have now, then sure.
 
What you folks are seeing is that business of the NFL play out in front of us.

Tampa does not want Chris, but they do want his trade value. They can only get value for him if they put him on the field and Chris shows that he can still play at a high level. He did that in the game against Miami, no doubt about it.

One issue working against Chris is that if Tampa can't get a good offer before the regular season starts, he will probably just get cut. That would be good in that it will give Chris the freedom pick his destination. It will be bad for him in that he has a decent contract ($$$ wise) and it would be up in the air as to if he could make more money in 2008. Tampa would want to wait to the end of camp to dump him, that way he can't walk into another team (like the Vikings) and be ready to go early in the season.

Another issue that Chris has working against him is that he is in the last year of his contract. Any trades will have to include a contract extension for Chris, and that makes any deals more complicated. It does give Chris a little leverage to veto a trade to a bad team by demanding an unrealistic salary from the other team.

Chris is going to get his shot. The worst case is that he is on the roster this year in Tampa, and has to put up with Chucky for another season. Chris has nothing to prove to anyone in the NFL in regard to toughness, work ethic, or arm strength. He took a really average team to the playoffs, and has proven that he can get it done as a starter.

I expect good things from him in the future, and it's going to be interesting to see how things play out.
 
cope is right, bully guy, first we've seen of Simms to make a call one way or the other was last week. ooh man, i hope this kid makes it, sure is a tough s.o.b, and yes does need to get the hell away from Gruden
