What is latest on Wittek and the UH qb

^^^ I think both will take some time. There is nothing official on Wittek, and there are many top universities after him. It was a big surprise that we came out of nowhere and got into the picture suddenly today with the comments from "sources close to him" that it is looking very good (thanks to Tommie Robinson!). I am not sure if the Juco transfer has got a final agreement from Texas to walk on, either. Need to wait for more...

Glad Strong was able to pull this class together in a short period of time. Now next year's expectations on the field and in recruiting will go up dramatically. We need to get back into having a Top 5 recruiting class every year, and let Charlie Strong and staff coach them up.

247 has us at #13, Scout.com has us at #13, ESPN has us at #16 and rivals.com at #17. I take all that as a pretty clear overall ranking of #15. Sounds quite fair to me.

I think OU is just a teeny bit ahead of us in the rankings at #14 on average. These are the top 2 classes in Big-12.

Charlie never had a top-15 class at UL (not even top20 probably, if I remember correctly) but had those guys winning two BCS bowls and staying consistently in the top-20 (and for many weeks in the top-10) for the last two years. That was with their on-field performance, and they ranked way ahead of Texas with all the top-5 recruit classes. Because he can coach. And he has a better staff now at Texas.

I say, just wait and see what you are about to see. Not being able to fill some urgent depth holes that Mack brown left him with, was all that could derail him. He took care of it. So, watch out.

It's a great relief to sign Nelson and Ford. It was one of the biggest needs in the class, and we would have been left in the cold if they had gone elsewhere. When you hire a badass defensive guy as your Head Coach, you want him to have something to work with. Well done.
