Shriners Classic.............

My ex-wife is from San Diego and her father was a huge Padre and Chargers fan, he would rather watch the pros over anything else. It is a strange phenomenon that I've noticed as well, definitely way more pro baseball fans out that way.

oh and funny story, I grew up on a farm, we raised our own beef, vegetables etc. and I never even heard of tri-tip till I met californian's and that may be strange, maybe its more common than I knew but its just not a term we used any where in the country.
I've had it--it's quite good, but it's not what I call bbq.

The only baseball I will watch is college, can't stand the pros.
Mostly agree -- except live in-person at the park. Sort of like NASCAR, Formula 1, and other motor sports. Fun times at the track, boring as heck on the tv.

Except for the Playoffs and World Series, I'll watch some of that.

Like football and basketball, the college game is just better.

Just checked the net for state with the most MLB players, by state birthright, and it was CA-22%, FL-11% and Texas 9%. I rounded all up.

That surprises me, if it is true. Maybe someone can check another source. I thought TX and FL would be bumping up against CA.

I'm surprised Florida has that many, they rarely ever compete with Texas on the baseball diamond on any level accept hitting. And MLB puts way too much emphasis on the HR swing, more so than on defense so I can see it from the hitting perspective.

I found a couple of different sources:

This one is by birth but Texas has almost double the number but its also by birth so this could be difficult to really tell the tale, for instance, Roger Clemens was born in Ohio but moved to Texas right around high school or right before, I think if you asked him, he is Texas through and through. Its also from MLB.com so kind of a powerful source. :hookem:
Which state is best at baseball? All 50 ranked

Then lastly there is one from baseball America that lists Florida with slightly more but they are including the minors and I'm not sure what else, they were a little vague.
