Shriners Classic.............

it appears that all 3 of the Horns opponents in the Classic will be ranked.............LSU #8, little UT #17 and UCLA #23 according to Baseball America rankings........should a be a good tell on where this team is really at............our superior pitching should be the difference maker!

Hook Em!

Texassports.com says this weekend's games can be seen on AT&T Sportsnet SW...but I don't know what that is. Anyone know how to watch this?

I have the Tenn game scheduled on my DVR on MLB Network. Haven't found the other games on the Spectrum schedule. Odd that the #1 team does not get more coverage.

I am pumped, I really enjoy this event and I am pulling the boy out of school early to get there on Friday! Hook Em!

Three days of fantastic baseball, and with the weather being warmer, it should not be freezing at the park.

Honestly it never crossed my mind to think that our worst weekend starter would have a 1.64 ERA. Not sure if that is more insane than the other two starters having a 0.00 ERA.

I upgraded my DirecTV Streaming package today in order to get AT&T SW, so I'm locked and loaded. Vols, Tigers and Bruins...prepare to die. :smile1:

If the Dallas Morning News is correct (admittedly a BIG if) the Shiners Classic games will be on MLB (at least Friday's games anyway).

Viper, you stated Shiners Classic - I suspect the Shriners are insulted you sullied their reputation with a beer from Texas ;)

MLB Network now has all games on its schedule. Texas vs Tenn, vs LSU and vs UCLA. DVR is set and ready to go.

I do not know about a blackout. May be just for the Houston area? It does show on my schedule here in Arlington.

My neighbor told me the games on MLB would be blacked out in our area - is that correct?
As I indicated they will not be blacked out in Dallas anyway. My source (the DMN) isn't always on top of everything.

I sent a note to MLB asking, but of course, the games will probably be over before they answer.

DMN strikes out again. Straight from MLB:

This will be subject to a blackout in Texas on MLB Network. Should be available for streaming through Astros.com and locally on ATTSportsNetSW.

In Houston, the Baylor game is on now, but the guide doesn't show them broadcasting the other two, which appear to be on MLB network.

The games are blacked out in Austin on the MLB channel (DirecTV Stream), but I'm able to watch them on my Roku's MLB app (watching Baylor/UCLA right now). For anyone with DirecTV Stream, it's also showing on the AT&T Sportsnet SW channel.

CHASE BURNS (RHP)
6'4" 215 lbs
100 mph fastball hurler

c7xfuvc2nvbb6e5sg9yh

Ok--this is by far the best pitcher we've seen thus far, and may be the best Freshman RHP out there anywhere. This guy is a serious pro prospect, rated the #5 RHP nationally coming out of high school a year ago. He also has one of the fastest fast balls in the college game (up to 99+ mph; Tenn. website says he's clocked out at 101 mph before :yikes::yikes::yikes:), routinely in the upper 90s, and he likes to throw it high for the strikeout. Only critique: a little "raw".

"Chase Burns is a 2021 RHP/2B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Gallatin, TN who attends Station Camp. Big and strong athletic build with an especially strong lower half. High leg lift delivery with a high 3/4's arm slot, explosive arm speed and elite velocity comes pretty easily, stays on line well with his arm and lower half. Upper 90's fastball, topped out at 99 mph, has gained serious velocity over the last year, found the upper ranges from the stretch as well, fastball is mostly straight but blows past hitters up in the zone. Threw both a curveball and a slider, slider was the much better pitch, late and firm and a potential plus pitch, curveball more an early count get me over pitch he landed successfully. Flashed nice potential on his change up. Mature right hander with elite level raw stuff. Good student, verbal commitment to Tennessee. Named to play in the Perfect Game All-American Classic."

"BIG DOWNHILL ANGLE WITH NATURAL CUT; LATE BITING CURVEBALL IN LOW-80S. [FASTBALL] UP TO 99 AT THE PG NATIONAL WITH FEEL FOR 4-PITCHES AND A CLEAN OPERATION. ABSOLUTELY FIRM PRESENT STUFF."

First team HS All-American last year. Slider reportedly better than curve. Throws an 82 mph change up to trick batters adjusting to his around 100 mph speed. Bottom line--> this dude throws some serious heat.

The "Natural Cut" on his fastball concerns me about as much as Burns reaching 100 mph+ velocity.

UCLA bases loaded down by 1 to Baylor in the 9th....

:ucla: vs :bu:

Out on a grounder. Baylor wins 2-1 in the battle of the bears.

Tyler Thomas, BU pitcher, is a really good one. This conference is going to be challenging. We're clearly the best, but there's some capable competition.
