Shooting

By the way, for anyone hearing about "Texas is sending parents DNA kits to identify kids afterward in case of shootings rather than doing anything."

The kits they are sending were developed in 1997 as a way to aid in missing-children's cases, and 70 million of them have been distributed nationwide since then. Texas first passed a resolution in favor of them in 1999, and the most recently bill relating to these kids passed in September of 2021. They have nothing whatsoever to do with Uvalde.

Yes, but when has that ever stopped the perpetually outraged from manufacturing even more faux outrage?

That seems like a worthy cause, to have DNA in a Gov't Data base to aid in finding missing children.
How many go missing every year?
There are approximately 475,000 children that go missing every year.
"The vast majority of people who go missing in the United States each year — nearly 73% in 2015 — are children. And among the children who go missing, roughly 9 in 10 are runaways. 99% of them return home safely.

  • The recovery rate in highest-risk cases for missing children rose to 97% in 2011 from 62% in 1990. More than 99% of missing children return home alive. "

  • In Texas in 2020 3588 children were reported missing.Using stats 3584 returned home alive.
Missing Children Statistics and Resources

Like all gov't programs this while well meaning is bloated . Is it really necessary?
What happens to the kids information on the Gov't DNA data base when they are grown?
