It's funny how many people assume the movie is just a rubber stamp to promiscuity. To say the show "rewards slutty behavior" is clearly the opinion of someone whose never bothered to think about the show beyond the title.

All the women, for one thing, end up in exclusive relationships by series end. They are not all bound for happiness, but that reflects reality.

Why is a guy (me) the one explaining the series?

Its not the sluttiness. Although, for their ages, I mean... well, never mind that.

Its the stupidity of the total ensemble of behaviors. The utter shallowness. The insipidness, as our hostess is want to opine.

I dont relate, yet have four sisters my approximate age. 3 of them are into this show, and idol also. What went wrong? They went to Rice, Trinity, and UT, for crissakes.

Anyway, cultural preferences are what they are. Thanks for the insights.

At least my wife is not into this nor idol nor anything like that, except Lost. Whatever.

Conclusion, all us guys have something to be thankful for.

Well, Misha, I graduated from UT, too, and I don't think there's anything wrong with me just because I enjoy SatC. I also love The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Imitation of Life, Caddyshack, The Devil Wears Prada, Blazing Saddles, When Harry Met Sally, The Dirty Dozen, Sleepless in Seattle, M*A*S*H, etc.

Nothing "went wrong."

What I don't understand is why men have a hard time understanding why women like something that was created for women ... ?

Married women with kids living in Plano love the show because they see it as a glamorous, exciting lifestyle in stark comparison to theirs.

What they don't know is these women in the movie are all over NYC et al and are completely miserable.

Of course you are right. I have a hard time seeing some of this other point of view. I honestly don't have a hard time understanding that its natural for such differences to exist. I should not project my mentality on these characters or their fans.

But I will look down upon it all, silently.
