Fight club is the worst movie ever because it could have been the best movie ever but it started to really, really, really suck like halfway through it.

I like Brad Pitt. I knew he was going to be bigtime from the first time I saw him in Thelma & Louise. Is he the best actor ever? No. Does he deliver an entertaining and consistent product? Yes.

Of all the movies he has been in, quite a high percentage are classics. Almost none of them are outright dogs. Even his lesser films (like Mr. & Mrs. Smith) are blockbusters because he is so entertaining to watch. Here is how I would rate his movies with the corresponding IMDB rating:

Classics:
Fight Club - 8.7 (#23 / top-250)
Se7en - 8.6 (#33 / top-250)
Snatch – 8.1 (#166 / top-250)
12 Monkeys - 8.1 (#188 / top-250)

Very Good to Excellent Movies:
True Romance - 7.9
A River Runs Through It - 7.1
Legends of the Fall - 7.0
Ocean’s Eleven – 7.6

Good Movies
Troy – 6.9
Meet Joe Black - 6.7
Kalifornia - 6.6
Sleepers - 7.2

Worth the Price of Admission:
Mr. & Mrs. Smith – 6.4
Interview with the Vampire - 7.3
Spy Game – 6.9

Bad Movies:
The Devil's Own - 5.8

Haven’t Seen:
The Mexican – 5.9
Seven Years in Tibet - 6.6
Babel – 7.7
Ocean’s Twelve – 6.0
Ocean’s Thirteen – 7.0

Find another actor out there that is Brad Pitt's age that has a better, more consistent body of work.

this is really taking me by surprise. i thought it was understood that he sucks *** and is just a pretty face.
mr. & mrs. smith is a blockbuster because it had a blockbuster budget. i actually liked that movie. i'm not sure how good his acting is in it, but in a movie like that overshadows acting. just like so many of his movies. ocean's 11 sucks so completely that i can't take those ratings seriously.
he's been in some good movies. he's not a good actor.

I've been trying to figure something in my head, and maybe you can help me out, yeah? When a person is insane, as you clearly are, do you know that you're insane? Maybe you're just sitting around, reading "Guns and Ammo", masturbating in your own feces, do you just stop and go, "Wow! It is amazing how ******* crazy I really am!" Do you guys do that?

Se7en is one of my all time favorite movies. I love David Fincher's style of direction. I don't get those of you who didn't like this movie or Fight Club. Both were awesome. The ending scene in Fight Club where the buildings were exploding and the Pixies song is one of my fav endings. My favorite lines in Se7en was this:

ocean's 11 is [bill walton]horrible[/bill walton]. i think i walked out of it. it was a gigantic george & brad circle jerk.
i liked mr. & mrs. smith. i thought the whole juxtaposition of the relationship onto a "normal marriage" was amusing.
i didn't think there was anything entertaining about ocean's 11. in fact, much like the original rat pack, i don't think clooney really cared if it was good. it was boy's club, boy band crap.
brad pitt is a ****** actor who is fortunate to have the starpower (in the form of looks - much like mcconaughey) to land in some good movies.
his acting was good in kalifornia and snatch.
in so many of his movies, seVen included, he looks like a guy fresh out of acting school. really pressing and it doesn't look legit to me.

I'm surprised at Admiral's surprise that people find Brad Pitt to be a fine actor. A lot of people think Pulp Fiction is a great movie, which I don't. I think it's an okay movie with some great scenes but also some really useless ones. But I can understand why a lot of people think that film is great.

Same deal with Pitt--and I think he is a soiid actor. Nothing like Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson, Gregory Peck or Denzel Washington, but certainly something well beyond the likes of Keanu Reeves or Ben Affleck (I know, I know, not saying a damn thing but you get my point).

exactly. he's as good an actor as keanu reeves or ben affleck. in other words, he strikes a chord with people - in my opinion - for something other than acting ability. looks.
it's totally understandable - it happens all the time in the entertainment industry.

whoa..... you might argue that Pitt is "as good" an actor as Ben Affleck (I'd say he's much better), but Keanu Reeves? The guy uses the same California surfer voice and blank expression whether he's playing Bill & Ted or Shakespeare. He's horrible.

Brad Pitt is 10,000 times the actor that Keanu Reeves is.

I liked Se7en, Fight Club, 12 Monkeys and Mr. & Mrs. Smith enough to buy all of them. So mark me down in the "Brad Pitt is a good (not great) actor who makes movies I enjoy watching" category.

I also have a great deal of respect for him putting his time and money where his mouth is on a regular and consistant basis.

It's intersesting with Fight Club. It's a very polarizing film. People that don't like it fall into two camps:
1) Just think it is violent and pointless.
2) Get the premise of the movie, but feel like it wussed out and didn't carry it though.

I like Fight Club. Although i have had friends recommend that i read the book. That the book was much better.

True Romance is an awesome film too, despite Tony Scott's direction. Tarentino's best written film. So much juicy dialogue in that movie.

Don't condescend me, man.

isn't fight club the whole generation of young men with no real war and then of course the line from the movie "how much can you know about yourself if you've never been in a fight?"?

C'mon people, it's obvious Stockdale was eating while watching every Brad Pitt movie ever and therefore hated them all, with the exception of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which he watched somewhere other than Alamo and enjoyed very much.
