I took my first peek at our January schedule. Wow, 7 of our 8 games are against ranked teams. We might start conference play either 0-8 or 1-7.

Not sure I see the point in playing a game against a team that wouldn’t win state in 6A or possibly 5A, but it pads Terry’s career W-L record and given the physical nature of the teams they face to open conference he is going to need it.

If we had switched to the SEC two years ago and Beard didn't get in a fight with his live-in, we would have gone undefeated in conference. Things are different now.

Our last 3 coaches are coaching the #1, #9, and #17 teams in the country.

Only one that matters at this point is Beard. Barnes needed a change of scenery, and he got back to recruiting the type of players that initially made him successful here. Smart must have been a fish out of water in the corporate behemoth that is Texas Sports and he apparently is much better suited to a small basketball only school. Beard on the other hand was in the job he wanted, and I think he had the program on a trajectory to be a top 4 conference program in the SEC or Big whatever number they have now. In his second year at Ole Miss he has taken a dormat of a program into the top 25.

I think it's let the situation play out before you make a rash decision. All they had to do was suspend him until the legal course was completed and have an internal review, then make a decision.

Heck, Terry could have finished the year and then figure out if we were keeping Beard in the off-season.
