seating at reliant

are they really opening up the entire stadium for the regional? Below is the seating chart shown on ticketmaster for Reliant. Usually the court is parallel to the endzone at one end of the football field with half of the stadium blocked off.

this configuration would seat 70-75k

this is the seating at the dome for the final 4 how it usually is

there are no seats in the grey section (behind the baskets). however, the court is in the middle of the stadium.

Craig Way mentioned in the postgame that the seating would be in the range of 42,000 and that around 35,000 were sold before the Texas win. It appears that there will be no endzone seats sold.

Unless you are right on the court it looks like the seating could be worse than the alamo dome. Wow, 90% of the view are really going to suck. Football stadiums are never made for basketball. It just doesn't work. It will be quiet also because it is too big of an area.

Actually, the picture above is incorrect. That is not the "new" NCAA seating configuration which will be used at Ford Field and Reliant Stadium this weekend. This is a webcam shot of Ford Field which gives a better view of what the configuration is like.

When the Final Four arrives in Houston in 2010, they plan to utilitze the entire stadium, just like they did at the Super Dome when the Horns played there in the FInal Four.

I don't know about Ford Field but I know at Reliant there is some new fangled seating with a riser system that they are going to attempt to use. Originally they were going to go with a setup closer to the Alamodome and then they figured this out. The NCAA is hoping it works and if it does all final fours in the future will be in stadiums that have a similar setup.

Houston Chronicle article from last week about the setup

I hate this setup. It sucks.

BTW...the Super Dome was not all used during the '03 FF there was a big *** curtain just like at the Alamodome.

I am looking to buy tickets and just want to be sure that I have the rows for the field box level in order.

The rows CLOSEST to the court are numbered (ie. 1-30)
Then next closest are A-Z
then lastly AA-whatever.

Is this correct? Any advice on getting the best seats available. Should I wait to scalp at Reliant or should I StubHub it beforehand.

good god ... I might not go. 80% of those seats are going to be watching the TV's anyway - why pay $100 or more to get in?

I agree with everyone about the terrible views and price, but the guys took care of business in Little Rock and earned the chance to come home to play in front of us. I will be there watching it on the big screen and cheering as loud as possible.

I don't get why some of y'all are saying this set up is worse. From what I read in the Chronicle, they will be installing rows of risers that will cover the first couple of permanent field box ros and descend towards the court. Unless I am missing something, this seems to be a better setup as more people get to be closer to the action as there will be rows of seats close to the court.

Isn't the central point to all this "fan" stuff doing what it takes for your team to win? There will be plenty of Cardinal, Tiger and Spartan fans who will be more than willing to take the nose bleed seats just to be in the building where their team is playing.

I was there in 03', definitely no curtains. hookem you are correct, the numbers are before the letters. I think the number rows are the seats they are putting in for this. Its starts with numbers then a-z then aa-,etc.

I have my tickets and I think everyone should get them. Reliant is a great place to watch sports. My guess would be that it is going to be great. This is our chance to give our guys a home court advantage. We know they rarely lose at home so BE THERE.

All I care about is whether the wide spaces will cause more problems for out FT shooting. Better be read to do that job well, and quit giving us heart-attacks.

I've read several articles on this and listened to some radio interviews here in Houston with people organizing the event. I think the answer is that the sight lines will be fine. As others have said though, many of the seats are going to be very far away from the action.

Currently, Ebay, Stubhub, Craigslist, etc have good tickets available for $300 to $500 per ticket for all three games. Yes, much higher prices exist also. I know that is a lot of money for some people and these prices usually decrease, but it isn't as high as we have seen for tOSU or OU football games or the Rose Bowl. Good tickets can be had at either these prices now or probably lower prices by Thursday or Friday. There is just no reason not to go. This Texas team deserves our support.

I'll be there, and anyone that can afford it not going because they won't be able to see as well sucks. The guys deserve a home court, I for one will try and give it to them

The tickets currently available for face value on Ticketmaster are upper deck seats, but they are right at center court. Those seats will not be right on top of the action, but your sight line will be fine. I don’t see why these would be terrible seats considering you are at center court. Any UT fan worth a damn should be buying these up. I’m pretty sure you won’t regret going.
