Season Tickets

Vol Horn 4 Life

Good Bye To All The Rest!
Last year I put down my deposit for my first ever baseball season tickets. I was first told information should be out in late December then in December they said this week. I'm yet to get any info and when I contacted the ticket office they just said in the coming weeks.

Anyone else have information or have already renewed? I know as a new season ticket candidate I go second behind existing donors and ticket renewals, but it seems like this is cutting it close considering the first game is in 5 weeks.

I just got my email today to let me know my login time if I want to change seats (I don’t). So no worries. By the way, this is my 40th year for season tickets.

Awesome, congrats on 40! Was there a deadline given for you to decide? That'll give me an idea when I should expect my email.

Thanks for the update!

I received my email yesterday that says my time slot for securing tickets is 1:45pm today. I looked at my account and the portal to ticket selection was there, but not yet open for me to select until my time.

When looking at the map it says there are literally no available season tickets except for the last two sections down the left field side in L6 & L7 which at that are only about 30 seats. I called the ticket office because I didn't think this could be true. Sure enough there is nothing else in the stadium available because they had about 95% renewal rate so not much was available to begin with.

I got a bit irritated because when I put down my NON REFUNDABLE deposit it didnt tell me there would be very limited availability so now I have to get garbage seats that I probably will now only use for the big games. I didn't want to sit in the hot sun in no mans land for the nobody games. And if I want to renew with a 95% renewal rate I'll never get to move seats to a better area.

This sucks because every year I go to several games where I buy through third party sellers and the same seats are always empty. Annoying.

I buy the $99 general admission seats every year. You can pretty much sit wherever you want for most games.
Those empty seats you see every game, just sit in those and if somebody shows up all you have to do is smile and move over.

On a side note I am pretty sure they are going to show that all the games are sold out again. There will be all kinds of tickets show up on seat geek that will suddenly be available at the box office on games day.
They did this last year and most of the time there were some pretty good seats.

Yep, thats usually how I get tickets.

I'm just using this year as a $200 investment to hopefully get an earlier pick slot and maybe get better seats.

I think I can answer that: $$$

Yeah, I guess so, but why take this underhanded way of getting more money out of us? Why can't you just price the tickets honestly and we will pay or we wont?

This reminds me of situation at home where we had a maid who had set her price at $150 per visit. So we paid that. Then she dropped us and told my wife it was because we did not tip her. WTF? YOU are the provider, there are not others involved (ie no manager who takes the money), why can't you just tell us what the full price of the service is?

I felt the same way last year when all this crap was revealed by UT (all seats are sold, if you wanna go, buy em on SeatGeek) so I was gonna pony up for season tickets, but I was told the price was ~$375 PLUS another $200 "donation" for the seats I wanted. This is so dishonest. Just tell me the damn price is $575.

I told my wife yesterday that, even though I'm just a peon in the grand scheme of the half billion dollar athletic machine that is the University of Texas, I should email CDC to let him know how un-cool it is to mislead people into giving a non-refundable deposit which they already knew was basically me buying a GA seat I didn't really want.

Just be transparent about it and let people choose. There's literally not a dime to be lost by them either way.

I have a friend who had the same experience with volleyball tickets. Paid a deposit and then found out there was only GA available. That deposit should be refunded in my opinion.

Were those deposits paid by credit card? I'd be having a word with Visa or Mastercard if I donated just to get tickets only to learn it's for GA afterwards.
